| EQ1 Apologist | Farming packs is like using using a tank gun to shoot down an aircraft. Statistically, you'll eventually succeed, but in the mean time you could have done it 100x more effectively by other means (buying). Seriously. These packs are fucking RARE. Whoever said 1 in 200 is smoking dope, they're far more rare than that. The only viable way to acquire them in sufficient numbers is, sadly, to buy them. Some people in my guild spent $1000+ on LoN, making me doubt their sanity. |

I am fine with your gigantic money grab here Scott, but you guys better do something with all that money you are pulling in, like update the shadow / graphics engine, and hire some new artists and model people. If I am fighting a giant troll model in Ruins of Kunark for a god, I am going to go on a holy jihad that will make Vangard look like a passing commentary. I promise.

| I got a LoN start pack thingy to drop today for me in Ssra temple while doing cursed cycle. It dropped off a light blue mob. 200k in my pocket as far as I'm concerned. This card game sucks.

| Romo is a manwhore | Couple of thoughts: 1) 50 cards is just about right. I find myself constantly changing my deck around to get more use out of certain combos or just to find out if certain cards will work good with my build. Any more cards would upset the balance and I like that. 2) I think we have to remember here that this is a CCG, and that the in game drops of starters or boosters is mainly just a bonus for actually playing EQ or EQ2. Granted, I do think the drop rate needs to be reasonable, but you shouldn't be playing the MMOs to feed the CCG. 3) The loot cards need to be more prevalent. I'm not saying you should get one in every pack, but I think a 1 in 5 or 1 in 10 chance is more than reasonable given the sheer amount of loot cards available (over twice the number of items that the WoW CCG offers... for each game). They could even make certain loot cards rarer than others. The recipes, for instance, aren't all that hot, but the mounts are quite nice so they should be less prevalent. 4) And sort of a follow up to #2: When you start a promotion that says you're increasing the drop rate of packs and starters, one should not go the entire weekend and end up with nothing as a result. RNG be damned, the average drop rate should increase so that you're almost certain to walk away with 1-2 packs during a 4 hour play session. 4a) A 1 in 1500 chance (what the EQ drop rate was deemed to be, which is actually 1 in 9000 if you're in a group since you'd have to roll against others) is not "Uncommon". That's "Rare" because I have a greater chance of landing a Ghoulbane camping in Upper Guk than I do a Booster Pack coming off mobs which actually give experience. |

| Most of you people bitching about drop rate are just too fucking cheap to buy cards or too dumb to realize its a money pit for SoE to take more cash from you. How do you expect them to make any money off cards if they are dropping for everyone every 4 hours?

| I can't believe game companies have people paying money for virtual packs of cards now. Magic online was bizarre and hard to take in, but since it had a precedent and real game, and the ability to trade in a full set of virtual for real set mailed to you, made it not as bad. But with Legends of Norrath it is just mind boggling. It's like they are snakeoil salesman. Seriously, stop and think hard about what you are doing by spending $1000 on virtual packs of cards for LoN. Don't even try to tell me monthly subscriptions is the same thing. No offense to anyone, but I just find this shit so bizarre. |

Then if you continue to play their games you have the chance to find cards in game(consider it free unless you literally only made a game account to find cards which is stupid anyway) or even buy them with in game PP you had laying around since nothing in EQ is worth buying anyway if you don't play on FV... It's not a bad deal. But I would agree people spending 1k+ on it are crazy...or more likely just richer than I.

| Romo is a manwhore | It only took about a month for people to figure out "Power Win" decks that can end up killing your opponent in 3-4 turns. There's also a form of "Turtle Deck" coming to light which is basically the counter to the PW. It comes down to a horribly balanced ability you can get from the Wood Elf avatar, which adds 1 power to your total if you have an ability played at a quest. 2 quests = 2 additional power. So you can conceivably end up with 7 power on your 3rd turn, which opens up a ton of possiblities and combos which are hard to pull off without that much power lying around. ETA to Wood Elf nerf... |

+19 Internets | been playing more and getting the hang of it, it's actually not bad. was playing Starter Mage deck and opponent had an open quest zone with Retrieve the Coinpurse (completing it engages avatar/avatar). I dropped down a Ingeous Adept and Dwarven Soldier and Raided. Got the Soldier in there for +1 and then played Roaring Flames +1atk/dmg, he tapped avatar to tie. Tapped the Adept for another +3dmg, so +5 damage total. Then I completed the quest immediately after and engaged his tapped avatar with mine. Did +3 damage to him and won the game. There's only two things bugging me right now. 1. I can't seem to find the place to change my name and 2. I can never seem to choose the deck I want to use, it just gives me random fighter or mage. I've made a custom Fighter deck but it won't let me select it, it's just X'd out, it has 50 cards so i'm not sure whats wrong. Didn't know you got cards from Scenarios, gonna run through those. Sad thing is i'm playing WoW and LoN at the same time. |

I am so happy for the random dorks who got a drop and proclaim the system is "working as intended lolz !" but the reality is, you are but a tiny, tiny fraction of the game population. You are the exception, not the rule. If they are going to blow their horn about an increased drop rate then they need to actually fucking increase the drop rate. This is nothing more then the standard SOE bait and switch we have seen since the days of EQ1. New zone / dungeon / expansion drops are like rain, falling out of your ass, unreal, so good, so often, so amazing, you just HAVE to tell your friends. Fast forward 2 weeks and in goes the stealth nerf (with no patch notes I might add) to cut the drop rate to .0001 % of what it was. The hook is in, it's sunk, and they reel you and your friends in. I don't mind the tactic, its sound and well thought out, I just mind that they cut the rate to the bone. They have the data to back this observation up, some dev is staring at an excel spreadsheet that shows how fucking shitty the drop rate is, I guarantee it. They are in a pickle though. As the drop rate in game goes down, the sales (for real world money) of cards through the store goes UP. If they up the rate in game, I imagine the sales would go down. Why would they fuck with the money train ? I got 6 loot cards the last week of beta, and despite buying booster packs weekly, I have not gotten a single one since the game went live. Additionally, I play 3 characters (all actively) and none of them has seen a single LoN drop since the game went live, not soloing, not grouping, not raiding. Fuck you assholes.

I played the tutorial today - when you select your name it specifically says you CAN NOT change it later. About the deck I don't know.
