+5 Internets | Well I tried the tutorials out and played 2 games against other people. I don't think it's all that interesting, it doesn't seem to flow as well as MTG and seems unnecessarily complicated. Like they just threw in mechanics for the sake of giving you busy work. anyone here like it? I like that they're trying to do something like this, not like they're the first. I think every MMO should have some sort of integrated in-client, out-of-client, online and offline minigame system. I just don't think they're getting the full effect with Legends. |

| Romo is a manwhore | Having played my fair share of horrendous CCGs, I can honestly say that LoN, while not the best out there, is worth playing. And, if you play EQ or EQ2, then you're getting off pretty good since you'll never need to spend a dime to enjoy it. Then again, you are paying $15 a month... That said, you'll never be competative, if that's your thing, because the in game drop rate of the packs is, in a word, attrocious. 1 in 200 out of a chest (for EQ2). |

| I love the smell of thread necromancy in the morning. The game is pretty fun, the interface is getting better, the art on the cards is really awesome. Overall I think it's pretty awesome. However.... There are some serious issues with the drop rate on cards, packs etc in game, and also via the cash purchase of said items outside of the game. They proclaim that the rare card rate is approximately 1 out of 8 cards, yet there are people who have bought 1000+ cards and got none. Then there are people who spend $400.00 on four cases and get 2 loot cards. Clearly the drop rate is not what they pretend it to be. Understanding that while the game is fun, the loot cards are the core item, especially for people who actively play. Certain items and effects in game, are only available via LoN loot cards. Of course we saw a much better drop rate the first week, only to have it turned down after the "hook" was "sunk" but the current rate is borderline criminal. Meanwhile, the farmers on their AOE characters are crushing out green mobs by the thousand and despite the low productivity in terms of LoN drops, it's still more then the average player sees in game, or can buy outside of the game, so ta-da ! the farmers dominate yet another portion of the game. I don't begrudge SOE for wanting to make money, and for wanting to add to their game in new and interesting ways (for them at least) but do you think you could give us a little less FUCK YOU when you do add stuff like this ? 4 hours in SOS = no LON drops 6 hours harvesting on FTI = 1 wood rare. Screw you and your dipshit spreadsheet fucktard approach to managing the economy.

| I've spent over $10k on MTGO and am a fan of trading card games and try any out that are online. I would say the EQ TCC game reminded me the most of the LOTR TCC but it has its own unique play mechanics. I actually enjoyed this game a lot of other TCC games that are out there. I never actually played VS players, but I played through the scenarios vs the PC AI. This only took a few hours to finish though. I wish there were a lot more scenarios to play through(only 15 atm). I am not interested in playing vs players really, I'll play MTGO for that. If they had a lot more scenarios to play I'd spend more money on the game. You actually get some decent cards for beating the scenarios. So its kind of like free special cards for beating them. I'd like to see a good TCC game where you have to earn your cards and not just buy mass packs. Earn cards solo/grouped vs AI and then tournaments vs players with the cards you have earned. Kind of like how Etherlords II worked. One of my favorite games that is pretty much unheard of by most people. I don't have an active EQ2 subscription so whatever in game bonuses you get don't interest me. |

| At least $4000 on MMOs in the last ten years too, probably more like $6k. An average of two concurrent subscriptions for the last 10 years and it adds up. I've spent a few hundred on each MTGO set since release(every 3 months or so). There are probably around 30 sets released now. So it just adds up over time. |

+5 Internets | Well you have to realize MTGO has been out for a very long time, like...7 years almost? I've probably spent about $2k on it off and on, if you're not careful it can get very addicting. Sealed drafts run you like $12-15 for about 20-60 minutes of play time. Could easily spend $200 in a weekend. Now days I only pay for sealed draft when a new expansion is out to check out the mechanics and try to trade for some commons. Thats why when MTGO3 was in open beta I was on it 24/7 getting my fix. I wish they'd open that up again. |

| Star Wars Galaxy 2.0 should be an online version of the Star Wars Customizable Card Game that was published by Decipher Inc. until 2001. Man, those cards were awesome, the card texts were funny / witty, and they had really interesting game mechanics (including games within the game like Sabacc, Dejarik, etc..). |

Nothing will ever, ever, I repeat, ever, beat Star Wars CCG. Damn did I spend a shitload of cash on SWCCG. I'd say at least $4,000. SWCCG took 5x more skill than MTG, and required less cash. The idea of having the same number of commons/uncommons/rares in each set has always annoyed me about MTG. As well as one expansion per 4 months. It still saddens me to this day that SWCCG is gone, that Decipher fuked it up and that Lucasarts was greedy and fuked Decipher. Last edited by Goliath : 09-30-2007 at 05:27 PM.

| I spent maybe $400.00 on MTG. It was the one time in my life where timing was everything. I actually bought into the game when they released Beta because of a good friend of mine telling me how much he really enjoyed the game. I then continued buying a box here and there so that I could help a few others build a deck as to allow us to play together. I never imagined a "card game" creating the frenzy that MTG became about 2 years after I had bought that first box. When I did sell(because honestly, I could not believe that I was getting offered 300 dollars for a card*Black Lotus*) I made about 6K. It was pretty good timing actually , since I had just started playing this online game called Ultima Online. |

+5 Internets | magic online was 2000/2001. If I'm reading it right Hachima said he spent 10k on mtgo. I still have some unopened SWCCG starters, I think they're first edition. I really wanted to get into Legend of the Five Rings. |

I use to have paper cards but when you have 20k+ cards online is so much nicer. That would be so many binders to organize and thats not what I want to spend my time on. Also when I want to make a new deck I can do searches for card text (say all green cards that result in drawing, any creature with swampwalk or whatever) and instantly find cards I may want to consider using. MTGO has been a very big success I think. There are always a tyon of games going on and it has remained popular. Almost every other online TCC has basically failed, even if it did well in a paper version. I'd love to see another one become popular online. Maybe WoW TCC? Never actually tried the game myself so I dunno.

| Why are hobbies so expensive /sigh. WH40k is releasing a new expansion involving massive armies, and it looks so cool. A single boxed set for this expansion can cost upwards of $350. And I'm sooo tempted even though I'm dirt poor. |

| I am positive MTGO is a huge financial success but I think it could have been something truely amazing if they would have went with a subscription system with additional small fees for tournament participation and limited formats. I can understand why they mirrored the price of physical cards but when I look at the WoW model of massive inclusion I see wasted potential. I can think of dozens of people right now that used to play MTG but stopped who would pay 14.99 a month every month without fail. If they redid the old old old MtG computer game I'd go to Wal-Mart right now and buy it. I got back into it for a summer pretty solidly when Ravnica was brand new and it was still essentially everything I wanted it to be. The problem now is that I just cannot justify the resources and time commitments versus the amount of enjoyment I can obtain elsewhere. |
