On performance, they've said many times that they are still working on the lighting engine and shaders. There's no point trying to test performance until all the graphic options are available. Quote:

The WAR engine is not final yet (although they upgraded with dynamic lightning a few weeks ago - something WoW engine doesn't have) and I'm sure there'll be a way to push the fog much farther than we currently can.

+1 Internets | With all this engine talk it reminds me of the one thing that I LOVED about every DAoC expansion. Upgraded engine graphics that were optional. That's the one thing I wish WoW would do. Give the option for better graphics instead of that bullshit "no ones ever done it right" or whatever reason they gave for not updating the graphics. |

| Its just a matter of time till WoW turns into EQ sub wise. All WoW did was help MMO's become more Mainstream so far they haven't done anything innovative. Taking pieces of the pie from other games that did it first and better. Just like EQ became dated so will WoW and will all scurry to the next MMo with a new story line and better eye candy. The only thing that helps keep WoW going is the fact that you can play it on the same PC that could play EQ 7 years ago. I know its hard to imagine theres that many cheap bastards out there that wont upgrade to a decent system, but thats what I believe helps them along. |

| Well if the only thing that keeps WoW going is that you can play it on a 7 year old computer, why doesn't EQ and DAoC and AO and AC and AC2 and UO and whatever other MMO's came out back then have so many subs? WoW is clearly bringing more to the table than an easy-to-run engine. I'm not defending WoW per se; I think it's abhorrent that Blizzard has done so very little with so very much (lore, revenue, player-base, etc). |

Blizzard will have to release its next major MMO to keep the status quo that its become accustomed to. I had alot of fun times in WoW, but alot of the direct comparisons between WoW/WaR are the same shit that were hashed around here 5 years ago between Eq/WoW. So nothings realy changed same shit diffrent day MMO's are more alike then they will ever be diffrent, it just seems some people can't seem to grasp that this will never change. | |
