| Wowhead.com sold to Affinity Media Wowhead.com acquired by 'Affinity Media' for $1M | World of Warcraft @ Curse 1 million dollars for the company that used to own IGE. Can't blame them for taking the money, but it sure was nice while it lasted without a million gold ads on it. The comment sytem was what set it apart I think. +2 Internets | I never really understood why people started using this site over thottbot in the first place (and even now it apparently brings nothing new to the table), but it's become pretty popular. Maybe I'm just too loyal to aftathott. The man has been making me useful spreadsheets for the last 10 years. But hey, if you can make a cool million just by poorly copying another person's website, then by all means go for it. |

+13 Internets | I use it because it is more aesthetically pleasing than Thottbot. Thottbot looks a little amateurish, but it does have just as good content. Also, I don't know about those claims. It says on their site they were going to join ZAM, the network with Thottbot and Allakhazam. Edit: Oh shit, it's the same company! |

| Yeah, the people who used to own IGE (etc) spent millions of dollars buying out sides to promote their gold-farming business...then sold their gold-farming business to Yantis to concentrate on the websites. |

The searching functions were always more appealing to me, ultimately I used it over Thott because it was always very fast. Thott would lag from time to time for whatever reason and it annoyed me. | |

| I simply find wowhead to be more user-friendly. Searching and information display is more intuitive and the layout/color scheme is a lot easier on the eyes. Thottbot was great back in the day, especially in beta, but it needed to be revamped once the game launched.

| Yea Thottbot has a nasty habit of incorporating old things into the database, like things from beta, or spells mis-labeled etc...also if you do certain searches there is actually quite a good deal of it missing; certain professions have missing recipes - Wowhead has it all gathered, without things missing, without half or incorrect entries and nicely categorized. I occassionally hit thottbot when new quests hit, because most won't have had time to update wowhead with comments, but thottbot being so mainstreamed is usually hit immediately. Other than that, WoWhead > Thottbot |

| I used wowhead because it didnt have 500 comments on every item saying "hunter item!!!1!" Also the comments were sometimes more useful than the actual information given and you didnt have to shift through 200 comments talking about how this item is better/worse than another just to find where it fucking drops.

+5 Internets | Oh well, now that IGE/Yantis have taken over wowhead, the site will stagnate just like thottbot did, with no new features or innovations, and will eventually/slowly become outdated and a pain in the ass to use until someone else comes along... builds a better website, and then sells it to IGE/Yantis...
