Another thing about EQ2 graphics that wont get you more fps, but will make the game look MUCH better, is force AF on your video card. There's no option in game, but man, it clears the graphics up so much its not even funny. Probably the single biggest thing that makes the graphics look better outside of shadows imo.

i installed for the hell of it, no real expectations other than to see how the game has changed. i have to admit i'm pleasantly surprised so far. it's been a very long time since i played last. one thing that's nice is my computer is upgraded since then. the game looks a lot more amazing than i remember, to say the least.

me and a party's worth of friends re-upped (or started playing fresh) on permafrost (I missed the great AB migration by a day ). and we're having a pretty good time. I can't say enough how much stuff their is to do in EQ2, it's pretty pimp.

anisotropic filtering. Theres no option in game for whatever reason, so you have to enable it in your graphic cards options outside the game. Just makes all the textures much less blurry. Here's a little pic I just put together. 3 comparisons between AF on and off. All other settings are exactly the same in game.

If you have an nVidia card, just go to the nVidia control panel.

AF really doesnt eat much frames and makes a huge difference, as you can see from the pictures. I tend to also turn on AA, but that will push your video card pretty hard. 2x AA seems plenty for me, but I keep AF around 16x.

On the note about AA (anti-aliasing), I remember a long time ago someone had said you must turn off bloom in game graphics options because of some hardware buffers or something. Does that still hold true? I've not had bloom on in forever.

I still have it on and it runs fine even with AA and AF. I think that was a problem with ATI cards.

Got a 51/50 Fury/Provisioner, 33/37 Necro/Jeweler, and 34/33 Bruiser/Tailor. Aamina, Melanith and Kendalice. Feel free to hit me up on Antonia Bayle.

They all do their jobs differently so that is kinda hard to answer.

Templars/Inq use reactive heals mainly (tank gets hit, tank gets a heal), Defilers/Mytics use wards mainly (absorb damage), and Fury/Wardens are HoT/direct heals. All are more then capable of solo healing single group content assuming you don't have a horrible pug.

In a raid setting some start to shine more then others though. The Templar and Defiler are main tank material all the way. We have used other healers in their place when we had too but Templar/Defiler were born to be MT healers. We often times run a Templar/Defiler/Warden setup for our MT group when we raid the higher tiers of RoK. The other healers are better in OT positions or caster/melee healers.

So you need to ask yourself what you want out of EQ2. If you want to raid I would suggest Defiler. If you are not a big raider then I would suggest one of the druids because they can single heal any dungeon and solo fairly well.

One of the druids, read Fury. You'll be the favourite caster group healer and you'll nuke a lot doing some AE healing here and there. Aside from that you do like 2x the damage of a warden losing maybe a little bit on healing (but not on AE healing imo).

50's were pretty tough, but with all the content out there now, it should be NP. Just keep doing quests and raking in that AA exp.

I haven't played since before Kunark was released, but this is a fallacy. Druids cannot single heal Castle Mistmoore. A templar can BARELY single heal Castle Mistmoore.

Of course, it's probably much easier now with the level cap raised.
