| Well played shadowknights are very hard to come by. But, I'd have to say either a priest (of any form) or a guardian/brigand will be your best bet.

I am sure it is easy for a chanter to find a raid spot, they solo very well (are the best at it?) too.

| Ok, sorry for the thread necromancy, but this seems to be the best thread to ask the questions in... First off, me and a friend are gonna start playing the game (for me, its coming back after burning out early DoF and for him its a first time). My characters have been deleted (according to eq2 players at any rate) so we're gonna start up a healer/tank duo set for easy rapage and groupage at later dates. We also intend to eventually raid and we're both pretty hardcore players, leaving wow since we're sick to death of it becoming about as casual friendly as its humanly possible. Therefore, curious what our best bets are for this tank/healer setup. We were thinking Berserker/Warden - the better dps of the beserker should make mobs die faster and druids seem pretty imba all round. What do you guys think? How are berserkers thought of in the end game? Been reading eq2flames and people seem pretty disenchanted with the beserker epic and with the class in general - I don't want to roll a class thats not particularly wanted end game (which is why we're not doing monk/shaman (since monks seem not to be wanted very much and my friend wants to play warden and not defiler or mystic). Whats their dps like? Why are people saying that buckler + 1 hander = better dps then a 2 hander? Sorry for all the questions, would really appreciate some info! |

| As said above, the druid class is flooded on every server by them. But, if you plan on duoing, your best bet would be a berserker/warden.

Buckler and 1 hander DPS is good because of the AA system. There is an AA to give you 65% double attack if you have a buckler equipped. Click Warrior Here to see the AAs. A ways back, before the raid game got going, berserkers could tank pretty much as well as Guardians. The last few expansions Guardians tanking ability has pulled away from Zerkers. The AA system that was introduced helped Guardians to catch up a fair way with Zerker DPS. The increased number of AAs in the latest expansion helped Guardians to improve their DPS even more, without giving much benefit to Zerkers. Bottom line Guardians now tank much better than Zerkers and aren't far behind in DPS. Remember at any time you can do the quests to change class between Zerker and Guardian. I would strongly recommend you consider a duo with a Brig or Swash as the tank. With AA they can tank very well and are superb in a duo, offering big DPS and a lot of utility for example party sneak (party wide invis) and a version of evac, plus they can use poisons. I've played and boxed most classes - if you are really duoing I would go Zerker and Fury, if you are two boxing Brig and Defiler is outstanding, though thats a prime choice for duoing also; Paladin and Wiz is also very good, but different to play. Thats assuming you want a tank; there are a number of good duos that don't use a tank. Last edited by Flight; 03-08-2008 at 09:55 AM..

+4 Internets | Defilers are pretty much the staple healer in a Main Tank group for raiding. Monks are useful, but under-utilized in raid like most fighter classes. (In my experience)

| What would be the best duo assuming neither wants to play a healer? Both of us are sick of non-raiding wow and just looking for something to pass the time, although if the end game of eq2 is better then the current-shit state of wow, raiding might be an option. If this has been answered, if someone could tell me around the page number that would be great |

| Neither wants to play a healer? Probably a warden (nuking one) or whatever and maybe a brigand/assassin?

+22 Internets | Assuming kuriin meant a fury, I agree. They are everywhere for a reason, they are the only good hybrid in the game. The healing difference between furies and the others is pretty small outside of raiding(though people exaggerate how much better other healers are, don't listen to them). The damage difference is huge though, and with another caster to root and nuke you could kill stuff easily, with heals in an emergency. If you really really hate healing, perhaps is a wizard and illusionist combo. Just root and stun/nuke everything to death. Btw I have not played rok so this might be outdated. |

| Where does one go to level in the mid 40's and into the 50's? Me and my friend dabbled a bit in DoF but there were only like 4 or 5 quests and they were done mui pronto. From my small time in Everfrost there didn't seem to be very many either, I've only got like 4 in my book and one or two is a group quest, but I might have just missed the "hub" there or something. We've got all expansions up to but not including RoK. Dungeon tips would be great too, we had some good times farming DFC, but from my little time in Permafrost (or whatever the dungeon is in Everfrost, the one with Vox) it didn't seem all that worthwhile. |

+22 Internets | You really should at least do the statue quest chain in permafrost, decent loot and good xp. That should get you a few lvls, and did you try steamfront? My mind is blank for exactly when I did stuff but I do remember alot of the quests there were green when I went there in the mid 50s I think. But more dof quests will open up once you get closer to 50 so you just have to hang in there a few more lvls for tons of dof/lesser faydark/kingdom of sky basket quests. I dont remember a decent dungeon in between permafrost and klak anon(and klak is only decent compared to dof zones). |

Basket quest is easy exp and is highly suggested for people to do in their high 40s to low 50s. After that, you can start heading to SoS. edit: BTW, I did mean a fury. Thanks for the correction. ![]()

| I played EQ2 at launch for 30 days and then jumped to WoW. Recently started reading this thread and have decided to give the game another chance. I've already rolled a DE Fury on AB server (thanks for recommendation). This week also going to work on recruiting my wife to play her first MMO. Wish me luck. See you in the game. |
