| I'm sorry for these dumb questions, but i'm trying again EQ2 and i'm kinda lost. Does the faction (good /evil) still determine if you can group with people ? Do you still have to make that boring betraying quest ? Is there any gameplay issue if i choose a different side than my friends ? how good (aka : quick to level ) are kelethin / neriak newbie zone compare to the old ones ? (freeport / queynos) thanks ) |

The betrayal quest was changed completely, it is no longer kill 500 gnolls/orcs. Again, faction means nothing in this game on PvE servers. If you're going to make a new character make it in Kelethin, Neriak, or Timonours Deep. Freeport/Qeynos newbie zones suck a lot to most people in comparison.

| Hey Pinksy, may you advice me on the illusionist class ? I used to play ench. on eq1, & really liked it. I'm going to play on a regular basis with a full evil team (tank, heal , fury, assassin, dirge). Initially, i was about to play a conjuror, but seems like i may enjoy the class-pet feeling with the illusionist too My main preocupation with the conjuror is that i fear to get bored really quickly. Dps only class always bored me. Can you tell me how (group-wise) fun is the illusionist. Will it still be useful in a group ? (dps-wise, group- util wise & so) ? many thanks by advance ![]() |

I'm sure the illusionist/conj is a better and more fun class, but all I hear is how spammy it is and I have no desire to deal with that.

+3 Internets | I agree, make it in the new zone, TD. Quest gear is far and above better what all the other starter areas are. Old world gear, even neriak is a joke compared to the quest-ables in TD. TD Quest gear = Old World Legendaries, and then some. Most of that crap you'll probably be using into your 30s, maybe even higher. If you do need to start in the other places, do whatever quick newbie quest you have then haul ass to Sanark Land! |

You can start there with any neutral race plus Sarnak but choose only from evil classes, or you can travel there with any race/alignement and level there, since you can get all the quests anyway, in that sense sarnaks are neutral. I tested it personally, 100% confirmed. | |

| Thanks miele, that's exactly what i wanted to know On the same subject....let's say I want to grab freeport friends to the crushbone dungeon in greater faydark. Is it à la everquest 1 ? they can go there, but they'll die a few times when they meet a town guard or any wandering good npc ? Or is it almost impossible due to...whatever i may ignore yet ? There's a npc (so i read) oustide crushbone who's a quest giver for a long questline. May they talk to him and get the quest, despite their evil alignement ? Sorry for these questions, but I'm really confused with the alignement system and its restrictions. |

| Alignment doesn't matter when it comes to that questgiver. Rarely will you die from guards, but yes, evil aligned characters can and will be attacked from guards, but you won't die going from BB to Gfay. I believe the docks of BB are neutral just as Sinking Sands is neutral. Basically it's this: avoid going into the actual towns and you'll be fine. I remember doing Sword of Destiny and the one in Freeport was a PITA because I didn't know about the sewers, so I kept dying from an epic guard. ![]()

| I found this : EverQuest II AA Tree Selection a class AA planner But i can't find any precise information on the eq2 aa system. There's 2 branch per char, that's almost everything i know, and eq 2 forum are useless on this subject. Nah...i read you gain AA through special action (quest, exploring) and not from xping. Can you respec AA and how / which restriction ? Do the 2 branch use the same AA Pool ? Is it an open system, à la EQ1, where you can gain as much point as you want/can, and fill the tree as you progress ? |

| You can respec, but it does cost money. You only get a certain amount of AA -- 140, 70 per side. I believe it costs 5-15g to respec? Unsure. But, if you decide to do the class respec, you get a card and you can respec 5 times with it (I think that one is free, then after it, it costs money?). Think of it like this: Class AA and Archetype AA. The archetype AA is the specialized version of that class (Cleric -> Templar) whereas the class is just the base. Hope it answers your question.

| yup, it answers pretty good I just read a forum where they said you could reset AA, but AA put in one tree (let's say archetype) were tied to that tree (even after the respec) and could not be ever used on the other tree (class) Is this true ? (dunno if my question is really clear )ps : what do you call a "class respec" ? never head of that before. |

| Class respec is just a respec of the base AA. As I previously said Cleric -> Templar, the cleric would be the class while the Templar would be the archetype. I'm pretty sure you have to pay more for an archetype respec compared to a class respec. I'm sort of confused on the first question? You can reset your AA, but it's not tied to each other. Meaning, if you reset your class AA, it won't reset your archetype AA.edit: Off to class now. Byebye,.
