+2 Internets | I just downloaded the Play the Fae download, and after 24h of patching to get it up to speed, I log in to make my asrai necro, only to have to download another patch to start in neriak, so about 2 days of my 7 day trial wasted just downloading and patching. The newb game reminds me so much of WoW's that it seems only superficially different so far. Granted im only lvl 10 or so now and I've got a long way to go, but it still is a very similar experience. Hopefully it'll start to diverge from that feeling. I do love playing a necro again though, warlocks just never did it for me. I can definitely start to see the button mashing combat emerging however, and understand peoples complaints. Overall, the nostalgia is nice, performance isn't nearly as bad as I thought it'd be on my laptop, and it does seem a little more mature (atmosphere-wise) than WoW. Probably gonna give it a month or so after the trial to see how it goes. |

Now if you already owned everything up to EoF this is a moot point but for someone starting fresh or returning to the game with only EQ2 Basic then it is a great deal.

| Is there anywhere to look up good information on like achievement specs and shit? There seems to be no good places to discuss what's good for any class. I got a wizard and am not sure if I should put into the wiz tree or sorc tree for leveling.

Some things become more clear after you played for a while, like "what class does what and how" in order to pick a good combo of AA points. For some classes it's a no-brainer, for others it's worth investigating a bit longer. You talk about levelling with a wizard, but doing it in solo, in a duo or in a full group is a totally different beast, also according to the gear you have and are willing to work on you may want different specs. A couple examples: - you level slowly, look for master spells or at least adept 3s of all your damaging spells and root spells, you build a lot of AA in a short level range. In this case the best spec is the WIS line for more damage, so you go from 3 shotting to 2 shotting solo mobs and have an edge on heroic mobs (less casts of root, less chances to break it), so that your fights will last as short as possible, followed by the AGI line for faster casting and recast. - you blaze through levels fast 'cause you don't really care, you live with app4 and adept 1s spells off the broker and whatever gear you can put your hands on while killing stuff. In this case, spending AA on the STA line and the Enhance mage shielding AA in the wizard tree could be a good idea, because you are fragile as wet toilet paper thanks to your 3 hp, your nukes won't kill fast no matter how hard you try and more survivability is welcome cause your root won't hold a shit when you have to nuke a mob 8-10 times to burn it down, especially true vs heroic mobs. - Playing style based: battlemage to be a tank-wizard, manaburn because you love big big numbers, etc. I tend to spend my AA knowing that I don't like respecs, so I build towards a certain goal immediately. I never or almost never solo, I level very slowly on average, I play quite a lot and always take my time doing everything as thoroughly as possible. I'm packed with money because I craft a lot, harvest more and sell everything I can: after gearing all my toons in at least mastercrafted and adept 3s with a bunch of master spells for each tier they go through, I have always about 40 plat left on average that I have no idea where to spend intelligently and right now I have no character at the level cap yet. I tend to use the broker seldomly, usually to buy the rares that people price very low, some elusive master spells if they show up and not for much more. Army of crafters = win in my book. Good luck with your wizard, it's a fun class imo and will give you some good experiences.

Also, Everquest II Spells, Abilities and Combat Arts and More has up to date listings of all class spells and AA trees if you need a quick reference.

| Thanks, currently I feel like I am leveling too slow, I am only 22 and killing a mob takes a good 8 or so nukes, more than 30 seconds to kills because my flame chamber refreshes before the mob dies. Currently I put all my points but one into the wizard tree but I guess that was a bad idea, I have around 16 AA now all into the fire side of things because I thought it would help me kill faster. Yeh I get owned by any mobs -1.

| Yup solo'ing, while decent pales in comparision to even a decent dungeon group. Even if you get another person or two to help you knock out solo quests it goes much faster. Btw, not sure where you started but try to avoid Nek Forest for your 20's. God I fucking hated that zone.

| Yeh bleh, I rolled on Lucan because someone I was rerolling with already has a char on there for 'hookups' but it hasn't turned out that way because that person is like never on. But on Lucan I can't find shit for groups it's really annoying. I did group once and as a trio we destroyed BB and yeah it was awesome but since then I can't find a group for anything, been trying for stronghold and just get no luck. I know I shoulda rolled on AB but its too late now, my friends and myself all got chars there and the others are too casual to start over. Another prob is I am broke as a hoe, so I am only using apprentice 2 for the majority of my spells because I can't afford adept 3s on the broker. I think I only have 3g to my name atm. Thats what I get for not crafting/liking the crafting system I guess because I certainly have been hoarding my money from quests and don't die hardly ever but I still have no where near the couple of plat for an adept 3 spell that I got 5 levels ago.

Also, convince your friends to roll on AB. I see plenty of people always asking for groups in lower level dungeons. Start in Neriak (I started in Greater Faydark) as there are alot of people that are rerolling just to play thru it. Faydwer is kinda slow (less people once you get into Butcherblock and such) but probably not as slow as Commonlands or Antonica. Still, lots of people in their lower levels all around. More so than I would have thought.
