[EQ2] The Ultimate Newb Thread

Well, I ended up picking Fury, Berserker, Dirge, Brigand, Warlock, Necro, and Defiler for the classes I want to try out before settling on a main. Character names are Kieren, Kezzz, Talann, Sorenn, Serryn, Kierendal, and Kuriel.

i'm thinking of restarting my tour in eq2 but i want to pick a fairly populated server. i've seen people mention AB so is that the most populated server nowadays? if so, can you tell me what the population is like? i don't really need a million people playing during prime time or whatever, i just want to see people as i go through the levels (and not plat farmers/people that are 4 boxing).

What's the best DPS caster?

Been suffering through the awful magic system in Gothic 3, and it is making me want to make things go BOOM.

edit: Needs to be something that solos reasonably, and preferably NOT a pet caster. So it looks like wizard or warlock. Which?

The Load has been "Heavy" everytime I've logged in this week. Also since this deal came out there's loads of new people levelling.

Wizards focus on single target damage, warlocks do encounter/aoe. I've been playing my wizard for a long time now and I really enjoy it.

Made a brigand on AB. Lots of fun so far, just trying to remember all the different stuff. Dinged 12, with 3 AA so far, and trying to level up some Alchemy to make teh poisons. Fun enough that I think I'll stick with the class.

The new Neriak is badass.

And yeah, I had to make one of those arasai (sp?) evil fae things, because I figure if you are going mangina, go all the way with it and have wings and the whole nine. Funny thing is, it makes playing a rogue toon a lot simpler for flanking and sneaking. Free safe fall, mad agility, and wicked move rate make up for the flapping of teh wings, YMMV.

The game has gotten better for sure.

I've got my characters almost evenly split 4/3 to the good side. Concentrating on my good Fury for a few more levels before I think about switching characters. Kezzz(damn no 3 letter names allowed) is my newbie 7th level 'zerker, but working on Kieren the Fury right now.

I'm level 10 Berserker right now, just logged for the night. It's pretty fun so far, I think it would be really great if some guys here would like to setup a sort of static party of sorts if our schedules permit. I wouldn't mind tanking for sure, already aiming at the STA line.

I just started there a few days ago and almost hit 30 on my ranger so hurry up and catch up newbies I need people to do things other than solo with =O

And as far as AA it helps but I think people make way to big a deal about it. You can start AA's at like level 40-50 and still end up w/ 100 at 70 if you really cared to try and since at 70 all exp converts to AA exp you can knock them out fast while trying to upgrade gear. So if you like grinding I'd say go for it. I'm questing and crap simply to help me explore the world and get some lore nerdage but I do go through nice bits of grinding to knock out a weird level.

Which of those tends to be more useful? I remember a lot of linked encounters from when I played before, but don't know if that's still how it works or not.

Guzrog same name, 21 Guardian. Had a warlock in a group today was pretty dope for the pulls of like 5-6 mobs, he'd just burn em down after I ran in and did an encounter taunt.
