Blizzard files suit against goldsellers

WoW Forums -> Gold Spam: Our Continued Efforts

As many of you know, the latest content patch, along with many great new content additions, contains technical counter-measures designed to combat in-game gold spamming. Our efforts to reduce in-game abuse and create a fun, safe environment for everyone are never-ending.

With that said, we felt that it was important to share with the community just how serious we are in our efforts to combat this type of abuse. Blizzard has filed a federal lawsuit against the operators of Peons4hire, a popular gold-selling organization which many of you have no doubt seen advertised. As part of the lawsuit, the operators of Peons4hire have been asked to immediately cease all in-game spamming efforts by all entities and websites under their control.

If this organization refuses to act accordingly, further legal action will be taken. We'll be sure to keep you posted on the progress of this topic.

Good riddance. Peons4hire has horrible service.

Thank god. They were by far the worst offenders when I played until a month ago. 90% of the spam I got was from them.

Why this company and not IGE? I understand you have to start somewhere but shouldn't you go after the big dog first? Maybe they don't use Chinese farmers or something so it's easier to sue them? I cant imagine that being the case though. Either way this is a great cause because spamming people in a fucking video game is fucking retarded.

edit: GOD what the fuck is with the WoW forums and first page shit? Why do they do that shit IT BOTHERS ME AND I DONT KNOW WHY.

I think one factor is that they have solid and irrefutable grounds to go after P4H. In game spam and harassment is a lot easier to fight against than the silent IGE.

Probably because they are going to sue them for harassment and not for selling gold. Didn't IGE win a legal battle before against gold selling?

Gold farmer spam hurts subscriptions/profit. Ige, honestly, doesn't.

Try typing "peons4hire" in WoW. Every time I try it, the message doesn't go through.

It's blocked. Why do you think they spam 3 lines with the address spaced out between them? They've done a lot to stifle them, and they keep coming back.. a lawsuit is next and I think they have a good case. Go for the harassment angle, not the goldselling one which is a lot more iffy.

Yeah. I just thought it was amusing, since I thought I was lagging out trying to tell my guild about it.

/gu Hey guys, they filed a suit against peons4hire.

...

/gu guys?!

So what happens if they pack up and move to China? How will Blizzard go after them then? I mean if piratebay can get away with what it does I'm sure there is a way for peons4hire to get away with what they do in a different country.

Send a message via AIM to findar
gmworker.com is working hard to take the peons place.

It is about time they did something about peons. Man was I simply getting tired of their spam. What I don't understand is can't they do some kind of ingame coding that blocks macro'd mailings, tells and ooc chats that are obviously being done by these gold sellers?

If they were smart they'd allow you to block a level range of players. I dont think they are going to spam with their level 70's farming the gold.
