EQ1 is Finally Getting New Character Models?

I haven't seen anyone post this here, but it looks like Eq1 is getting its first new charachter models since Luclin. Here is a link to the official board, with lots of pictures in this thread:

New Human Models

I have a few questions for those of you still playing:

1- Is it safe to assume that all the models are going to be replaced?

2- Do the new human models fight realistically, as in actually stay in a fighting stance? Also, is the auto-attack varied on them, or is it the same swing over and over again?

3- Hopefully they plan on getting rid of the "clubbed" look for human feet, and the "conehead" look for Erudites?

4- Is there a timeframe for getting the models switched over?

I have said for awhile now that the only thing keeping me from playing Eq1 is that while the graphics have improved, the pc's look like arse.

I hope they do something closer to the original animations. Those had followthrough, even if they were rather weird sometimes. The luclin animations with the "bounce" hitting was irritating to look at.

Talked about this forever, yaddayadda, if it turns out as good as the luclin upgrade did, i cant wait to see what they've come up with.

Why? Seeing as the old models are still included with the game files, won't you just be able to use them instead?

Here are some of the better pics. If they could revamp all of the races pretty quick, I'd re-up. But at this rate, it'll be 5 years before they are done.

those actually look pretty good.. atleast they look life like and not plastic for the most part.

Those look really good - they look like they follow the artistic style of the original models a lot more than the horrible luclin models.

[Edit: Just looked through the pictures posted in this thread. Looking through more, a lot of them don't look as good, and the female ones really don't look good at all]

Are you guys even clicking on the link and looking at the pictures posted there, or just the male faces posted here? If you think those body shots look like good models you are out of your mind.

They mentioned that when they introduce the new models, both luclin and original models will be disabled.

these models look alot more like the original models upgraded than the luclin models did.

I have to say some of the females are ugly as sin but most of the males look decent, even if the human is a bit gangely.
