| Actually it is because every generation as a whole gets less and less mature and more and more retarded. In my day hearing somebody saying fuck in ooc or shout was very rare and doing so would lower your reputation and get you a warning or even a suspension. We're just talking about the word "fuck" here too. The other shit that goes down these days is 10x worse and 10x more people do it now than they did then. Nobody gives a shit about reputation anymore and everyone says/does whatever they want. Before if you acted up or were an ass, other people were going to know about it and it was going to be very detrimental to you. Now, everyone is immature little raging nerds who say the word "faggot" twice per sentence, every sentence. I could go on forever explaining the differences in the newer generation with the older, but put simply the maturity levels have dropped vastly, especially over the internet. |

I care about my reputation, because I care about the image I give of myself to others in every circumstance and don't forget about it because I'm protected by the /anon flag of the internet. I read these forums for the first time in 2002, but it was occasional visits to hear about the latest EQ kill or drama or Furor's rant. Now I also post in them and try to remain civil (sometimes it's hard ), but mainly I come here for entertainment, because this place is filled with people that share my hobby and most of them are even funny. It's a good source of info, void of shills for the most part and when they show up, the people here tear them a new asshole. Pure internet gold imo.

| The only difference I see is more freedom to say what you want. In the "old days" if you disagreed with furor, you were usually verbally beaten to death by the mass of ass-kissing bitches, who couldn't get off his dick long enough to think for themselves. Edit: and pretty much everyone who says,"this forum sucks now" probably falls under the above category. Last edited by Rythonn : 05-17-2007 at 04:49 PM. |

| The problem is that any thread longer than a few pages degenerates into the same bitter crap between several people that just goes back and forth pointlessly. You can look at the title of most threads, and know what hitting 'last page' is going to lead you to, the quality of the lurking these days is extremely poor, and without some heavy handed modding at Silky Venom IMO it will end up more or less the same way, just not as dusty. In the end, FoH has become a more sophisticated version of the WoW forums. Bigger words, but just as petty and stupid. |

+63 Internets | Been awhile since I've seen someone get down on his knees and suck Furor's dick that long and hard. That you Darph? haha! Anyways, any 'decline' in the board is mostly due to whiny shits like the OP treating this place like it's their own personal blog and ignore any attempts at any real discussion to be had. As much as I enjoy EJ, that site has become 1 part statistical analyst to 10 parts "HO DO U KIL NITEBAAN?" etc.... Nostalgia makes you an asshole. Just go look at the "Fond EQ memories" thread. That's nearly 100 pages of pure physical retardation right there in text format. Richshaw this piece of shit thread and ban the OP for being an asshole. |

| I've been using the Internet since the early 90s (my dad worked for Apple and occasionally had to do stuff from home), and I've noticed no great change in tone. However, the language used has changed, in that today's internet seems full of abbreviations (hi2u, lolz, y? etc) that weren't nearly as prevalent before. I chalk this down to the youth of today being using these expressions to save time while texting on a phone (after all, most don't have keyboards...we can't all have a Blackberry), and have continued using them on the net. As for immaturity in general, I can't say I see more of it overall, although those people saying that MMORPGs may have been more civil in the past may have a point, due to the demographics for such products changing over time. (also, with the advent of WoW, Blizzard unleashed the hell that was B.Net chat on the gaming world at large, as many of those people went on to try other MMOs)

| Forums have changed as in they're now more fastpaced, and are seen by many more people. Is that good? Yes, we are reaching more and more people. Is that bad? Yes, we are giving voice to all those new people. So what do you suggest? there are going to be good posts and bad posts, people ranting, people bitching and Utnayan. Well, I'm glad we are becoming a bigger force in the MMO world, yes, new people (06, 07's) are attacked left and right when they post, but generally we talk about serious shit (someone queue the serious cat pic). More developers should read this place, if anything this forum opened some eyes on the whole Vanguard scam before it could hit more people.
