Hey, how about next time you actually read the thread. Then you'd notice that Jinsai said that he didn't like the game. Reading comprehension FTL.

Eh? You are from a different gaming planet than me. If I like a game I'll generally play it as much as is possible without say losing my job or gf. Still playing VG and slowly leveling a char in LOTRO. I am feeling somewhat nostalgic for EQ right now and I keep hoping against hope that SOE will try the progression server idea again -- this time the right way with slower progression, old loot tables (manastones and everything else) and w/o things like hot zones & etc. They said they'd never do a progression server but they ended up doing one -- so who knows.

But here's the problem with that. sure you can simply start new on EQ. Create a new character on a different server and level up mainly in the old world zones. But what is missing? obviously the people. The zones will be dead. So while you can play the "old" EQ if you really wanted, you will hate it because there will be no one to interact with. And what has been your complaint to a large degree about VG? A lack of people. Only one conclusion can be made, really, games are fun when there are a lot of people to play with.

Haha. Who's talking about liking or disliking the game? I suggest you take a little of your own advice chief. The only one here having reading comprehension issues is you.

I'm talking the fact that he gets money everytime someone from this forum clicks that ninja affiliate link he posted, signs up for a trial and converts to a regular customer. I make hundreds of dollars each month using eve's affiliate program. Just not on message boards.. its considered bad form.

FTL indeed.

Maxx its late and you seemed to have missed the point of my comments. I don't want to level up in OW zones alone. I want a new progression server (which as you should know starts with just vanillaEQ so there are only OW areas). When Combine started last year there were a ton of people -- imagine 300 lvl 1 halflings in misty vale and you have some idea of what was going on. A lot of people dropped out a few months out because the prog server wasn't what they thought it was going to be -- progression was happening to fast, loot tables were screwy and none of the old removed loot was dropping (rubicite, manastones etc.). I don't pretend that the a new progression server with things like hot zones removed, slower progression and old world loot tables would be a huge thing but if the original prog server interest is any guide SOE would get enough to resubs to support a server. So there would be people to level up with (actually there are enough lowbies on Combine and I think there are still a lot of OW hotzones -- haven't checked maybe they've changed -- so even now one could just roll a new guy on Combine and level in OW)

No Tad I'm not missing the point. If it is just nostalgia for playing an old game, it is still there, go at it. But you don't really want to do that because there won't be many people to play along with. Asking for yet another new server is at best wishful since there is not a market to justify it. You will have your crowded newbie zones for awhile and as time goes by people drop out. As they have.

Any progression server in an old game will move fast simply because the people playing it know the game better, hence no learning curve to go through. The only way to control the pace would be by simply putting in arbitrary time limits.

Hey now, let's at least give updated links

ES 3.0 Database and download

Connections to the Phrozenkeep forums and the ES wiki are on that page. The mod is still updated, and the forums are somewhat active. Not sure about the online community(as in, private servers), but I mainly play it for single player. Give it a try if you liked D2 at all, it has a high learning curve because of how heavy the modding is.
