| Awesome news indeed, can't wait to visit Neriak again. EQ2 problems in the end game were not only in itemization, as surely Noah can point out (I think you are/were a guardian, right?), but also in how stats worked pre EoF. As a tank you used to care only about mitigation, you'd pass on an apparently very good item in favour of a mediocre one because of those extra mitigation points. Stat caps were another issue now partially solved. Gear has gotten better, but far from what it should be, although I have no direct experience of serious EoF raids and how this gear plays out in such content. It surely makes a difference when doing other things, like Mistmoore or Nizara: the difference between a raid geared tank and a mastercrafted/legendary one there is... too huge to even be considered. Even mez has a role there, being unforgiving single group content. The strenght of the game lies in the 1-70 path imo (more like 18-70), due to the amount of content to explore and the questlines to do (not kill X mobs ones). Class balance is quite well done until the raid content is being hit. Everyone can find a role in a raid, except Troub so far which are a "meh... ok, come if you really want to" class. Coercers have their use, so do illusionists although their specialty is not really needed (mez). For all those that are not too concerned with hardcore raiding, EQ2 is a great game, raids (well until KoS for what I can say) were quite fun from many points of view, but not so rewarding in terms of loot; I enjoy more the achievement than the pixels so I never really cared too much, many didn't think the same way I did. |

| lol, thanks for the post. Your post undermined my opinion of the industry in general and eliminated any desires to play eq2 and mmo's in general again. Man what a bunch of shit i used to put up with, crazy. Pwning people in online poker > mmo's these days. |

| Question...I played the Trials of the Island (or whatever it was back in the day of EQ2) and really couldn't see if I liked it back then. Is it different? Is it difficult to level up like it was back in the old days of Everquest (omfg evil)? |

| As the Chairman of the "Gamers with MMO ADD Syndrome Support Group"... I say.. HOLY FUCK. This makes me want to resubscribe... again... again...and again... Fuck! Damn you Scott Hartsman... If only people could stay interested in EQ2 for longer than a month or two I would stay around.. Watching clumps of people stop playing over time eats at my will to continue...

Question, though....I had been leveling up an Illusionist, and the doom and gloom on the endgame of an Illusionist had me down and killed the motivation. Any who play, do they suffer the same fate versus Coercers (or in general) as Jait's Troub vs Dirge?

Really, give it a try. There is nothing worse than logging in and finding out that all your buddies are not online, it made me quit wow in 2 weeks even if I was having a lot of fun back then (and pickups in wow made me want to /wrist 3 times x hour at least). There are plenty of people playing EQ2, find some dedicated ones and enjoy it a lot more. P.S.: go transfer your chars to high pop servers, it's gonna help ![]() @Kuriin: 1 to 50 is fast, really fast I mean, to the point I'd say faster than wow. Doing quests is kinda important tho (past lvl 10), to get a bunch of AA on the way, even if it's not necessary in the least, you'll still get some by killing nameds etc., but the first 40-50 AA can make your toon a lot more powerful. 50 to 60 it slows down a bit, but if you can spend a few hours per night, one level a session is quite doable. The 60 to 70 tier is, for what I remember, still fast enough to not be a burden.

I really enjoy the lore and the game of EQ2. Maybe I should bite the bullet and just join a guild as a player. I love organizing guilds and trying to get people to enjoy the game, but watching it slowly bleed away sucks major ass.
