As someone else mentioned, if you really want to be reminded of EQ1 you are better off in Faydwer. Neither is a replica, but Faydwer is "more" reminiscent. Blackburrow will probably give you the most bang for your nostalgia buck in the "original" EQ2 lands. Soluseks Eye would be my vote for "not all that nostalgic but maybe even better than the original".

+20 Internets | Stormhold has a definite Befallen feel. I smiled when I came to that first hub room with the 4 doors, one being locked. My only problem with it is how did it end up in Antonica? It was in West Commonlands before. I mean, Stormhold IS the remains of Befallen right? Granted, more of it is uncovered now. |

It gives you a different illusion with different abilities based on the weapon you are holding. Mace/Hammer = Wolf with +7% chance to crit with dmg spells. Staff = Treant with +4% chance to crit with heal spells. Sword = Tiger with 10% chance to proc 200ish dmg on melee hits.

Befallen was the unearthed ruins of a structure known as 'The Temple of Light'. It was built 500 years before the timeframe of EQ1 by a cult of Marr. In EQOA (the PS2 version of EQ, set 1000 years prior to EQ2) it was up and running and was populated by the cult, made up mostly of paladins if I remember correctly. This probably explains why many mobs in Befallen in EQ1 are Shadowknights. I'm guessing Stormhold, while obviously not the Temple of Light, was built by the same cult of Marr, hence all the Valor/Virtue references in the zone. Temples/places of worship can have roughly similar layouts depending on the group who builds them (modern day Catholic Churches for example). My guess is that 1000 years before EQ2, twin Temples to Marr were built by said cult. One was unearthed 500 years later during EQ1 (Befallen) and one was unearther during the shattering and is known as Stormhold in EQ2. Or... they fucked up Qeynos vs. Freeport dungeon level progression balance and moved Befallen to Antonica *shrug*. +5 Internets | The screenshot in that link you posted is absolutely amazing. The torches in the distance are literally cocks that are spraying blue cum into the sky, and it makes me want to adventure into this wonderfully gay Everquest. Also it is very freakish that you're reminding everyone about the Everquest that wasn't. That thing came out around the time of PoP, if the race music was any indication, and was just terrible I imagine.

| That's exactly what they did. They also attempted to relabel as much of the "Befallen" lore to Stormhold. They missed a few things here and there, including the Bone-Bladed Claymore quest series which calls Stormhold Befallen.

I don't really see why they needed to change it. I know I was questioning its placement in the world earlier, but I pulled out my old original EQ1 map, and if you try to think of it more realistically (ie. a huge world instead of the very small spaces the zones gave us in eq) it's technically possible that when the continent broke, the befallen side shifted with Antonica. There is alot of area on the map that wasn't represented in the actual zones, and it shows the Karanas/Rathe Mountains touching with the commonlands.

But yah, the game sucked. Good source of lore though if you're a junkie like me.

There's been a lot of talk about it over the years in the Lore boards. And if you're old-school enough to remember: Befallen was the first thing that Brad released about EQ2. It was a hidden Java page that The Safehouse discovered.

I almost got that same feeling like when I saw a Sand Giant for my first time. I love random nameds that run/fly around.

| I love that ^^^ griffon in TS... -Run in, stun the healer, kill him off fast with HT. -Sickening Circle, and other PBAE. -Take out the tank, maybe one other. -FD so their target goes back to the ^^^ which by now is finishing off 2 of the others -Chase down the lone survivor, kill him. -Go hide before their whole guild comes to kill you over and over again for the rest of the night. Made PvP servers so much fun, hehehe |
