Rumor - SOE to purchase VG?

Because I am such a drama whore...lets take a stab at this rumor.

Silky Venom is stating that VG Flames is reporting the following:

New, current rumor is that SoE will announce next week they've agreed to buy out Vanguard from Sigil based on its declining population, since Sigil cannot afford to continue. Further information is that SoE will merge servers shortly thereafter.

Thoughts? Simply a rumor, or do you think this has some merit?

If VG sold the 100k-200k boxes someone was claiming, that should be $5-10M, plus cash from subs... plenty to continue development.

So someone (I forget who) was saying that at 100k-200k they would quickly recoupe their investment and then be in the black... 5 years from raising capital to being in the black is a fucking party-time situation if you are looking to invest money in developing a product.

So:

1) The 100k-200k figure was BS
2) Stating that all they needed was 100k-200k was BS (which I doubt since you see so many other small/failing shops cling on for years with much less)
3) Upper management wants to get paid.

or the most likely situation

4) This story is BS.

None of your math factors in the fact that developers are lucky to see half the money from a box sale or monthly fee.
