I have wondered if the lion's share of VG crapiness came more from Kendrick, Butler & Co rather than from Brad himself. It is rather telling that Kendrick resigned just around the time that the WoWification of VG started. And his comments to date do tend to support the theory that he himself prefers the grind-centric / long travel time type game.

Lol, if you ever played any of my EQ content (besides the Mage Epic quest, which I just implemented, didn't design), and still see me as a fan of uber-grinding, I'm worse than I thought.

Thanks for the "gold star" Kreugan. I think I'll print that out and use it as a reference tomorrow morning at the border when I talk to the nice Immigration officer about approving my "fast track" Canadian work permit. Start work at Relic on Tuesday provided they let me across the border.

Update on the future of Sigil and Vanguard coming soon...

It's all ultimately good news, but complicated enough to justify one of my verbose postings SMILEY I should have my first Sigil/Vanguard update up tomorrow and then look for regular updates as to the future of the game here and on the affiliate sites (probably weekly or so, depending on what's going on). I will post here first and then immediately copy the post to a set of the Vanguard affiliate sites.

It'll be either a typical McQuaid twist trying to turn selling out to SoE into a great archievement or a big "ROFL, we fooled you all". Since it's supposed to be "complicated", the first option is way more likely.

There is nothing positive, or "ultimately" positive about Vanguard beta, it's launch, it's "pre-aquisition" by SOE, or now it's "complete" aquisition by SOE.

Like 95% of the people who would ever be interested in VG have an ingrained hatred of SOE and all the sloppy fuck-uppery that comes with them running an MMO (Sorry again EQ2, lol).

Selling VG to SOE is literally like selling your soul to the devil for that large segment of people who would ever give VG a try.

MAYBE, SOE could turn VG around... give it the love and attention it needs to recuperate and prove to the hardcore world that it has reformed itself; But mostly likely they will merge servers, cut CS, then tie VG up in it's bedroom so it doesn't wander off, and slowly let it die through neglect whilst cashing it's social security checks, and selling off it's prescriptions on the street.
