On another note, as open and cordial as the VG staff has been, leaking or confirming rumors often means a visit to the legal department for a brick beating. In the interest of professional courtsey I very much doubt this will ever be validated until either the deal is closed, or one party walks. | |

| Validated? No. I can completely understand why they wouldn't confirm it before the official press. My theory is they are waiting until the next big billing cycle which happens in the next few days. But they certainly could deny it. If it wasn't true at all, they only stand to gain by squashing it quickly. It's not like this is a positive rumor you want perpetuating given the history of the parties involved. Therefore, in my twisted VG-hating universe, the pact is sealed. It's as good as done.

| To someone on the outside, like you or I, it does indeed seem like a good idea. To some of the people actually playing the game, however, it is as if Satan himself came to earth, killed Santa, raped the Easter Bunny and then rolled a monk on their server and is following them around training them, and the petition button is broke.

| TBH, I don't think SoE would gain anything from buying the game out. They'd end up having to sink TONS of money into the game to develop instancing for the engine, fix all the damn hitching, make it playable on less-than-top-end rigs...the list goes on. |

| Brilliant! | Maybe, maybe not. I have a theory that basically says, "In a company that releases and maintains several products, you're really only going to have one, maybe two quality buys." I'm not privy to the internal workings of SOE but I believe their best talents are with EQ2 at the moment and frankly, I'd prefer they stay there. That's one. So at best they could really hammer home a second quality product, which is possible with VG. However, I think the brain trust at VG has been deluded for a long time (as many have pointed out) and it's basically going to take a "vision-less" approach to turn things around. Whether or not SOE has the people to make this happen remains to be seen. My guess, at the end here, is that it's going to be an absorbing of the SGO development house, probably similar to what happened with EA and Mythic. So you'll see SOE-Sigil right there with the Vanguard logo. Either way, it'll be an interesting last week of the month. |

| They won't file until the last minute. The press release will happen pretty much simultaneously or before they file.
