Totally Agree.

30K characters, not 30K subscribers. How many people do you know that don't have at least one alt?
It's also characters leveling. The reality of it is that graph means a whole lot of nothing. You could have 10K people dinging 3 levels across 3 alts, or you could have 120K people dinging a level once every 4 days on their main.

Saying we (will/will not) (aquire/be aquired) (company_x/by company_x) is just unnecessarily playing with fire. There is no reason for them to confirm or deny this rumor.

Of course we liked it - it made our misenthropic lives more bearable and less weird.

This is what I was referring to, Esmo. I meant in the scope of Brad's career overall, not just the "Vanguard days".

One of the first creators/contributors to the 3D Massive MO's that were more fleshed out than previous incarnations. So much so that it actually began to reach the fringes of mainstream.

However, I'm aware that MUD's had been around for years. There were even 3D MMO's to a limited extent. For the reasons Esmo gave (timing and the expanding online culture) EQ helped to establish the online MMO culture. Not saying Brad was the first, but he was one of the first involved in a popular/successful incarnation of the genre.

He probably could have also ran to NCSoft. They seem to be a haven for shitty products anyways.

Eh, I think that was discussed on the forums and there was supposedly some reason why they weren't an option. Likely they said "no thanks".

I can't really say whether the actual rumor is true or not (I honestly have no idea), but from what I've seen I'd say something is definitely going to be announced regarding the issue that does involve some change.
