On another note, since comparisons of Silky Venom and this place pop up from time to time, I'm sometimes surprised at how this place is portrayed as being worse. Sure we have our fair share of dedicated trolls, but reading the SV forums I'd say theirs are at least half the population. You even have some Nino-bashing going on over there right now.

I really don't understand how folks can let their opinion of others be based around what video games they enjoy. It's either I am a liar without proof because I never reveal what I am getting in a PM, OR, I post snippets of info (Which were outdated for fucking 10 days - jesus christ grow the fuck up) and get blasted because I abused trust in which I came here prefacing the post that I didn't get it from ANYONE HERE ON THE FOH FORUMS.

With that said, I'll protect the name of the person who PM'd me because I said I would - but it sure as fuckfire didn't come from Nino.

My computer is an Athlon 3400+ with 2 gigs of Ram and a 6800 GT O/C'd video card from BFG. I never have overheating problems on ANY other game and I run those full tilt - for some reason Vanguard gets my video card hotter than shit - something I would love to figure out someday. Yet I can play STALKER, Half Life 2, Oblivion, Rome Total War 2, all damn near in max settings at 1680X1050 and not a hitch pops out.

Same goes for EQ2 as well. Nothing wrong with that game either. And frankly, every game I mentioned above looks and runs better to boot. Explaining the 3 FPS when I enter three rivers? That's been a documented "What the fuck" error that has baffled the devs since I first started in beta 3. And I won't even get into the fact that if I play longer than an hour my frame starts slowing down because of the still there memory leaks they said they fixed. Or the 5 minutes it takes for my computer to dump memory after I exit the damn game.

Where would you draw the line? I think we can agree that a lot of Ut's ranting has gone too far, but what would be a decent cutoff point, in your opinion?

When, after being acknowledged, he (or anyone else, for that matter) brings up the same argument or gripe time and time again. Or, when instead of saying "This needs fixing, this could be better with such-and-such, etc." one simply states "This sucks! The developer sucks! I hate you I hate you I hate you!" I don't know about others, but it seems like a fairly obvious line to me.

I'm really not surprised you would say something like that, because it fits your agenda. Just like it is no surprise that you "+1" a crappy picture. If a 100 page thread develops, and this one is certainly well on it's way, then fine. If that's what the people want, and they can keep it within reason (which is not something for you or I to decide - only the mods) then threads can get as big as they want. I don't see the issue with what Ut did at the end of the last thread. This is hardly an honorable industry. He didn't say the name of the person who gave him the info and yeah I just don't see the big deal. Not anymore than people who come here from the new games and break the NDA with positive spin (aka what Brad and others did).

Honestly I don't mind what Ut says, or even the responses, but I would like something to be done to stop the back and forth. That would be the only thing I'd stop. Honestly i think most of us are intelligent people, we dont need every post by every dev to be analyzed over and over to find flaws...

I know exactly who this person is from beta. We had a serious problem with people quoting the vision as scripture and telling our limited amount of testers to 'go play WoW'. I attempted to curtail this behavior and let people know that the game WILL change througout beta, and that the vision was a guideline and not written in stone. Some people took extreme offense to this and reported me for blasphemy. I was just trying to let people know that a game iterates and changes as development proceeds, and that many factors influence our decisions. You can never make everybody happy.

Well sure Tol, but like others have said here people discuss just fine with devs who come here to talk to people (Galente, Smed, Curt Schilling (not a dev but on the same track), etc). Those threads are fine with lots of good discussion. Really this whole thing revolves around Brad. I've read a lot of these threads with him posting in it (although never really posted in them) and the guy just isn't up front with people here. He spams propoganda, hypes his games and tells people that they should pay 2500 so you can play his game. If he actually posted something worthwhile this wouldn't be an issue. But in all the posts I've seen of his, I can count on one hand the good posts.
