[VG] Vanguard still Billing Accounts after they are closed

Today I look at my bank account and there is a $14.99 SOE charge for Vanguard. I cancelled the account weeks ago on the website numerous times, each time I get the your account is cancelled message.

So today, SOE bills my account and takes $14.99 even after I told them no several times, I had to call SOE Pakistan and have the account manually closed and get a billing refund.

So I call two friends I know who bought the game the same day, sure enough they both look and SOE has billed them also after they cancelled multiple times.

So just a heads up, check your bank / credit cards if you cancelled Vanguard, seems SOE is still billing for cancelled accounts even though they are not authorized to do so.

I am sure its just a error / glitch, no conspiracy here. But you need to make sure your not billed if you cancelled, and to get a refund you will need to call SOE CS.

"SoE Pakistan" has a certain ring to it...

IIRC, they did the same thing with MxO. People were being charged for signing up for the 10 day free trial without choosing to keep the subscription active.

Maybe this is the "low churn rate" Brad was talking about. People who canceled, through some glitch didn't have it take effect.

It didn't happen to me, so it's not happening to everyone (just as an fyi). Account ran out the 10th, I haven't been charged. Definitely check your CC statement if you canceled though.

I got pissed off when I saw that I had a 14.99 charge from SOE. Then I realized that it was from joining back in Everquest. Phew!

Still, fuck them for accounting issues. I could never tell if my account was closed, even though I had clicked the "Cancel subscription" button 4 times and it confirmed it every time. I didn't get charged, but still, it's a shitty situation.

You can only cancel if you're in a group. It's all part of the vision

MxO for a brief time required you to call them personally and cancel.

AOL gone wild.

Blizzard used to let you continue playing for up to 3 days even after your subscription was up. DISCUSS!?!!!

LOL it was even better then that. You could subscribe in the morning, and as long as you cancelled before PST midnight, you never got billed. But you got to play all day long for free.

My roomate played for nearly 3 months that way 3-4 times a week.

UO billed me 6 months for 3 accounts before I noticed the charges. EQ1 did it for my 6 accounts for over a year. DAoC was the worst for billing me for more accounts than I actually had. I had 4 accounts in DAoC and went back and found some months they billed me for 5 and a couple months for 6.

*shrugs* Guess that's what I get for not checking my CC statement in detail.

EDIT

Oh and by far the best one was 6 months before E&B went under they WOULD NOT let me cancel my account. And because my CC is a debit card I couldn't stop the charges until they finally went under lol. I even called them up and the operator hung up on me after telling me that I didn't really want to cancel.
