| Yah, there sure is nothing like that. I didn't bother with the first exp weekend, was having more fun playing Supreme Commander. Maybe i'll pop in and see how my Shm/War combo is working. I sure am glad I am playing this game casually. |

| Nope, we continue to grow quite nicely in terms of subs and registered players. That said, we want to have special events like this and while churn and conversion is fine, we'd rather offer events like this ahead of time and not in reaction to a problem. That said, we don't want to over do it either, so I wouldn't consider double exp periods to happen that frequently. It's a cool thing to do occasionally, but can also easily be over done, and we're aware of that. |

1. I play a cat furry (Kurashasasasa something). They have some rather intriquing lore, far more than I ever expected from a generic high fantasy MMO. It's not original, per se, its lifted from a Short Story in Michael Moorcock's Multiverse mythos, particular an Elric story called "In the Machinery of Dreams" IIRC. Moorcock's Multiverse Mythos is the basis of the D&D Planescape setting, btw. The lore only holds through until level 5 when you are sent to Telon and from there on out its like it never happened, you're stuck doing Qalia barbarian quests AFAIK (Diplomacy quests may cover the lore more perhaps, I don't do diplomacy), but it was cool enough new player experience to give me a feel good vibe that's lasted for the last several weeks of boring ass telon shit. It's far better than "oh btw, we have Cats on the motherfucking moon, snakes and vampires too" from EQ1. I just created a new cat person to screen shot a bunch of the newbie area treats and quest text you get, i'll probably throw it up on a site for people to check out if they don't want to bother making a cat furry themselves. 2. Dread Knights get Shadowstep. Go play Raiden in MKIII to give yourself an Idea. This ability is just pure, unadulterated fun. We've nicknamed this ability "Ninja Vanish" in my guild/group of friends and the naming convention is starting to take hold on my server. It pisses off rogues if you use it randomly while tanking (which is a Plus if that's your goal) but its awesome for setting up mob positioning on pulls and such, plus your Mez and Lifetap's pretty much require its use, and its range is damn nice. If they ever nerfed this skill I would quit, regardless if they made DKs 20X more powerful than they are in the process. It's that pivotal in the whole cool/fun factor. 3. I'm playing in a guild full of old EQ1 peoples from my server. Despite the number of MMOs that have come and gone, our old EQ1 server boards are still an active community and we still shoot the shit daily. We're a pretty tight nit group of about 50-100 active daily posters, probably 300 or so total users who check in less frequently. Every MMO that comes out those of us that are interested in it all hop on and form a guild of sorts and give it a go. Not everyone is interested in every MMO of course, but we have like "chapters" in basically all major MMOs, no where near say SA forums but still. There's about 6 of us in Eve, probably 100 or so in WoW (spread to the 4 winds though), 4-5 in EQ2. 2-3 in CoH/V. Hell there's still a few on our server replaying or still playing EQ1. Vanguard especially has a special bit of nostalgia for this group so there's a bit more comraderie going on here than would be in other MMOs. It started off about 50 players but its dwindled down to about 10 ![]() 4. After 23/7 overwatch in 0.0 in Eve or constantly doing instance runs in WoW, its nice to just sit back and camp mobs for a few hours, shoot the shit with old friends, not worrying about elaborated scripted encounters or anything, paranoia of checking local every 20 seconds for red boxes or neutral spies, just good old fashioned mindless mob slaughtering. It's relaxing, in a way. | |
