That might be true, but my understanding is that Sigil only gets paid proportionately to how much people play the game.

If someone has a station access and plays VG 100% of the time, then Sigil would get 14.99 - SOEs minimal cut for hosting.. but if they only play VG 50% of the time they are logged into a station game, then Sigil only gets ~7.50 or so for that person that month.

So even if someone has VG activated on their AAP but don't play it at all, Sigil still gets nothing.

A little birdie told me that there wasn't supposed to be a second double exp weekend, but SOE goofed and sent out the email a second time, and SGO is honoring it.

I don't know if I should laugh or cry.

rofl this sounds the most likely. Although I see no reason to honour it. I got thta email after weekend and thought wtf. Great marketing, get it out after the event

Is this the goof-up email that also promises the title of "Founder" for everyone who purchased the game between launch and March 31st?

Lol, more like SOE "goofed" on purpose looking at their bottom line.

You know what, that does make sense. The Update #1 mail was sent out monday and there's no mention of "yet another double experience week-end", the way it reads it would be the first XP weekend.

IF that's the reason, someone in marketing might have got their dates wrong. It's not like they play the game.

It is more dramatic to believe the sky is falling, but since this is out there, yes we are honoring the email that was sent late.

Sigil has already made many mistakes and pissed me off to no end since release, but the game is still ok and last week-end was great. It made people play, that's what the game needs the most right now.

The thing that would help most while playing VG (apart from the obvious bug fixes) would be 2-3x the number of players per server. The game is fun, the game has some challenges, the game is truely one of the better games I've played (even with the bugs), but there just aren't enough people around if you don't want to solo.

My suggestions:

1) Increase the over-all xp somewhere in the 25-50% range. There will still be a grind at higher levels, but nothing retains new people quite like being able to grind out the low levels quick and continue to see progress at mid-levels.

2) Introduce a 10-14 day free trial. Let people try it out. Let people enjoy it. Get more people on the freaking servers. After the trial, make it so you press a button, get upgraded to full status and keep the account you have been working on progressing.

3)Focus on developing 1-2 places per level range to try and funnel people into. I realize that this takes away the point of having a huge game world, but you need to concentrate your player base somewhat. Finding a group currently is like poking yourself in the eyes with a rusty nail.

4) Maintain the level of development. Don't slack off on getting stuff implemented and fixed. Get up on this thing and ride the shit out of it until the game is perfect.
I disagree with some of this. People are already funneled. Like almost everyone goes to tombs between 18-24 and it's overcamped. There isn't anywhere else to go that's close. If you can't find a tomb group it's either travel for an hour or get crap exp grinding yourself. I think things are too spread out...maybe that's the wrong way to say it.

I think travel is too meaningful. A lot of times when I can't get a group for CIS I just log off. At 26 there is no way in hell I am soloing... it's so fucking slow compared to grouping that it feels like a complete waste of time.

At 26 and after tombs I have liked VG less and less. The more I play it the more it reminds me of EQ. What the hell. There is nothing wrong with EQ, but I also don't want to play EQ anymore. I'm sorry but sitting at some spot and pulling mobs for 4 hours on end at CIS, is exactly what I did at guk, velks, sebilis. Exactly what is next gen about it?

I get more disappointed as I play because it's just so much like EQ it's not even funny. I went to that Vegas gathering thing. At the time Pscions seemed different, but now seeing them they seem more like "next-gen" enchanters than anything unique.

ugh

At 26 and DK, i soloed the sirens in River Valley, was good exp, and a quest for that. It was pretty easy, They are all single pulls.

Not trying to be a wiseguy, just curious, what does make this game fun? Aside from newness, everything I have read just reminds me of the things I hated about EQ only it is larger and has prettier pictures.

What makes any game fun?

I have a toon, with which I explore, deck out in cool gear, amuse myself killing stuff/crafting stuff/parleying and chatting to guildies. I'm pleased when we take out a hard boss, happy when I get a good drop, I'm saving up for a housing plot.

How is that fun compared to FFXI, WoW, EVE, whatever? It's fun like those are fun. But prettier.

I kind of missed out on the first double exp weekend due to being stuck working all weekend. Now i'm kind of happy that I'll get to capitalize on this one, as i've fallen behind the curve slightly in my guild. I intend to grind my little ass off.
