The characters do look amazing and I hope for the best. I just don't hope that so many things look odd together that most people end up picking the same look anyway.

I remember in SWG there was quite a bit of customization, but you'd still see tons of people running around with the same horns, hair, hair color, etc.

Those videos are a great sign for this game, I think. It's obvious these people aren't letting anything out the door unless it's top-notch quality and looks very professional (unlike, say, that latest batch of horrid WAR videos). I hope they keep this up, since WoW is boring the shit out of me again (and probably many of you as well) and I'm not getting good vibes from any of the AoC/WAR leaks.

The good stuff:
- You can make a damn nice looking mangina
- Casters have some sort of channeling skill (DAoC-style insanity would be an instant "no sale"), great animations, spell effects, etc.


The really, really bad:
- It obviously has some sort of "stealth" usable in PvP (die die DIE DIE "auto-invis" stealth bullshit, please)

The only thing thats I dont like from what I heard about this game so far, is there is no character building, ie your warrior has the same spec as evry other warrior in game. I really hope Im wrong or this changes.

For some reason the ability to build and spec my characters is a must for me, otherwise I dont get into the game.

I thought I read something about items you can buy that can give your class some extras, but I can't find a source. Something like mages being able to wear plate, but because of that they're spells arn't as potent and take longer to cast. Shit like that. But I can't find a reference to it, so it could be for an entirely different game.

There was quite a bit of customization but it was all small detail shit, so everyone just looked the same by default unless you inspected their faces.

Hm, what preview did you watch to come up with that? You can change the entire body of your character, in addition to the facial features. You could easily have two completely different looking characters of the same race.

If you want all the infos go over to the AionSource.com forums and read the FAQ etc. That's the largest english speaking community for this game. They usually have all the translations there.

Just be warned a lot of the forum threading is full of L2 players that very much like soul crushing korean MMOs. But the info on the game over there is pretty much complete for what's available.

Similar to what I heard, certain dropped gear will be what differentiates characters. Problem with that is you have a harder time choosing your build and are more stuck with what you get. Still all this info came from beta 1 and this was one of the points criticised by many (along with character custimisation which has recently been greatly impoved) so it may still change.
