I have more fun continuously playing a casual game, than constantly being screwed over by nerfs/bugs/ and shitty CS in a challenging game. Plus WoW got my GF to play MMOs, and I can truely appreciate it's simplicity now because there is no way a lot of people would start playing these games with EQ or more challenging games. Now she's all like, "lets go kill those red elites (as a duo)! I want a challenge!"... so she's almost primed to step up to harder games.
Heh this is exactly why I dont play WoW.

Hell my friend lets his 8 year old play.

I'd rather be grouped with adults in VG than soloing in the AOL fantasy cartoon chatroom.

Anyway as far as bugs I've personally encountered:

1. Some quests just dont work. Examples - temple of Dailuk - Quest to kill wolves/dog mobs. No credit is given for the kills. Cant complete.

Khal diplomacy training - the priest quest - priests wont talk to you. Also the guards near the convoy or whatever cant be completed (that I have found) - I won every parlay.

2. Crashing near Shrine of Haf'whattheshit - 2nd shrine south of Khal. My computer often reboots in this area (only this area). Maybe some kind of memory leak.

After seeing some of the general chat in VG post release I would have a very hard time making this statement. Increased skill in group play I may be able to buy, but a more mature community? Hell no, from what I've seen so far. I've seen all the requisite Chuck Norris jokes that I saw in Barrens general chat, along with the incredibly fun game of "WoW SUCKS/WoW RULEZ!" that comes up every time someone mentions WoW.

I turned off general chat in EQ, I turned it off in WoW, and it took me all of a day or two to turn it off in VG. They all have retarded general chat.

I think it probably has to do with financially supporting software that should not be released for purchase to the public. Do all MMORPGs have bugs, particularly at release? I am unaware of any that have not. But obviously, we all know there is a "threshhold" of acceptable bugs. What that threshhold is can be hard to define, but you kind of know it when you see it.

Vanguard has clearly passed the threshhold of "acceptable" bugs, and we all know that. So, I think the argument they are making is that by buying the game, you make it "acceptable" to release software in that condition, which is not good for the industry, and sends the wrong message to future MMORPG developers. Imagine what would happen to Sigil if not one person purchased their game because of its state. What would happen? They would go tits up. What kind of message do you think that would send to future MMORPG developers? Your game better damm well be in a good state or you are going to fail and won't be making games in the future.

I think that is what is frustrating to some people . . . .

I disagree, Vanguard has not passed the threshold of acceptable bugs. If it did I would not be playing. I am very much capable of accepting the minor bugs that I encounter.

I agree with some of what red has been saying.

Putting boxes on shelves, marketing it as a complete game when it is clearly not so was a shitty thing to do. The financial reality made it necessary but it still sucks. People here were well informed of what state the game was in but we are in the minority. There is no disclaimer on the box.

I don't care that anyone paid for and plays the game, if you enjoy it and it was worth the money to you, good.

What does bother me is that some posters here are endless Sigil apologists. They ended up where they are because of poor management and a lack of direction. Not because making an MMO is the hardest thing on the face of the earth and no one will every get it right. People who are disgruntled have every right to be.

Bugs

The log-in bug was fixed last night. This was caused by fixing the 'stuff is disappearing from my inventory' bug. Apparently, items were stacking inside the same inventory slot which made people think they were missing, when in fact they were just hidden. By forcing one item per slot with the 'fix', it overloaded many people's inventory and it would crash your client. Fun stuff. We fixed it in less than 24 hours. Not great, but not terrible either.

The 'oh crap I am falling through the world after recalling/dying' bug has been tracked down, but is not an easy fix in most cases as it involves the loading of compound objects happening after the player enters a chunk. I recommend NOT binding on top of the bindstone/altar object if possible for now. A fix for this is coming as soon as humanly possible.

Aside from that, what other MAJOR issues are there? I am more than happy to yell and scream to get things resolved.

And yes, we all know the game should have shipped 'bug free'. Despite our best efforts, mistakes were made. In all honesty, given the alacrity with which we wrapped up beta, I am suprised at how stable things are. I have yet to crash in the two weeks of the game being 'live'. I crashed nightly in beta. There are some issues that aggravate me, like bad directions or travel journal entries, etc, but we fix those as soon as they are brought to our attention. At the pace with which we are uncovering and fixing problems, the game will be as solid as a rock within a month or so after release.

Or maybe, just maybe, it says if you make a fun game people will play. I could care fucking less that you or anyone else doesn't think VG was ready for release. Your opinion and the opinion of all the rest of your little group mean shit to me or anyone else playing VG and having fun. And that's why we play you morons. To have FUN. VG is fun. End of story.

You don't like the bugs? Fine don't play. See if any of us give a shit. Funny how all you people who hate VG and don't play still come into every VG thread and post your stupid shit over and over again. WE DO NOT CARE. Do you understand this yet? Go into the WoW threads and post there since you just love it so much.

Kinda funny that there are some serious debates going on right now about moving 1/2 the FoH community to another site so we can ban retards like Itzena, Ut, Zhen, and Neric who post stupid shit in every VG thread over and over again. It is old and it's time someone actually did something about it.

I also love the quote in your sig... Gotta love how Zhen puts an 's on the end of my name then has the nerve to talk about other people being stupid. Just proves my point.

The two biggest problems: MEMORY LEAKS and mobs dissapearing. It's great when they vanish and start beating the shit out of you while you can't use LOS abilities sometimes. A lot of the time a mob comes back 20m behind you too and charges at you.

The elevator in KE makes people dissapear a lot when going down. Will also sometimes say "out of range" thinking people are upstairs afterwards. Also the spawn time on PH's seem to be the same as named. I don't know if thats intentional, but having a PH on an hour+ spawn time seems kind of stupid.

Are the named mobs around the 3 Rivers area really not supposed to drop anything? Croaker is a named frog off a pond and is higher level and another dot than the others but seems worthless (and broken, hits weak so I see clerics solo him).

Yay Nino! You were gone so long I thought they put a straightjacket on you and told you not to talk to the FoH monkeys.

Good update.

Problem 1: Memory leak in Three Rivers and Renton Keep. Running near those places is like getting hit in the nutsack with your mothers meathammer.

Problem 2: Group dropping on random when changing bard songs, after which all bard effects need to be recast. Groups dropping on zoning.

Problem 3: Chat features are wonky, not able to /autojoin nameassword

Problem 4: Bard abilities not doing the right amount of damage that they say they do combined with the recent nerf to Endurance and AC makes completing any quests alone too difficult. 20% of the game should be soloable content.

Other than that I haven't seen any major bugs yet and haven't crashed since the chunk stress tests of Beta griffon hand outs.

I approve of this post.

In some places it can't be called Memory Leaks, more like Memory Floods.

And when I say "some places" I mean "Three Rivers".

After those 2 issues are fixed everywhere, you've got lots of broken quests that when added up do lessen the enjoyment of the game, but is not a deal breaker.

Truth.

I switched from my 15 rogue to my 12 druid after a week of not playing the Druid. I think I died to even con mobs 3-4x in the space of a half hour before I learned how to play the class again.

If you find yourself sucking and you're not a rogue, you are doing something wrong in how you set up your fight. Practice different ways of pulling or starting a fight. Use your debuffs etc.

Memory Leaks

I will try to get a status update on this tonight. I do know there are people working on them and most, if not all, had been resolved. Three Rivers seems like the big one.

I hadn't heard about the bug with groups and bard songs. The solution is simple, don't group with bards, duh. That, and I will ask the coders to look at this.

The ability descriptions being incorrect seems easy enough to fix, I will speak to the class team after this and see that it gets done.

Some named mobs are not intended to always drop loot. In limited cases, you may need to be flagged for a quest to get the item. I am not sure about Croaker, but will mention it to the proper team.

I was under the impression that the elevator issues were resolved. If this is not the case, I will try and get more information.
