[LOTRO] No. 1 Seller?!?

Went the ebgames today and noticed their best seller was....

Lord of the Rings Online!?!? I know everyone probably has TBC who's going to buy with exception of a few and I thought maybe VG would generate some sells but, what is up with this?!?

I've been playing this beta for a while and it's a solid game and all but, I didn't think this would be the case.

What gives??

It's their preorder, and I'm sure the ebgames/gamestop system does it by sales per day/expected sales from that.

If it JUST became available for preorder, everyone probably JUST bought it, throwing off sales numbers.

Brand name + decent gameplay + will run on any shitbox PC bought in the last five years = money hats.

Repeating myself from months ago:

This game may very well be the sleeper hit of the year. It has classes and mechanics that are surprisingly superior to other games. (Developers of MMOs: See LotR Bards asap)

Beautiful game, needs more content. It has it's weaknesses, but it's still in beta, blah blah....Wait 'til NDA drops, and I'll have a nice writeup, until then go sign up and try it for yourself. It's very obvious why this game is great, and what still needs to be worked on. A good sign for a game in beta.

I am pretty sure many shops manipulate their top seller charts to move stuff that they piled up and are not moving as fast as they thought.

One of my big concerns with the game is EA. I mean, ea is the son of the devil. I refuse to buy any games from them, ever. Exclusive licensing shit over football was what sealed the deal. I Like mythic, and i liked daoc, but why the fuck did they have to get bought out by EA. So sadness.

I dont know who is distributing in the US but in Europe its being handled by Codemasters, not EA.

Ditto to the "when NDA breaks" comments as I'm enjoying it and will deffo be pre-ordering, not the lifetime one though

Before any of the flamethrower platoons start filling their tanks with petrol, yes it has weaknesses but its pro's outweigh its cons and it fills an enjoyable niche in my gaming habit/addiction

LOTRO is Turbine, not Mythic. And playing that and Vanguard in beta at the same time was night and day. Content I can't speak for - didn't get higher than 25ish ever, but the core gameplay is solid and I agree that the classes and some of the other systems are quite spiffy. Race selection stinks.

I was invited to the beta quite a while back. I remember picking a dwarf, throwing up in my mouth once I saw the character animation of the dwarf, and leaving.

I'm not bashing the game, since I really didn't play it, but christ. Dwarves were some ugly motherfuckers, and the modelling was horrible then.

/shrug Not a big fan of playing Dwarves, but I dont think they look too bad, this shot is from pre-beta, and they've improved since then.... And this is just a screenshot. When the model is running at 20-60 frames a second, it looks tons better. I still /boggle at folks who quit over graphics, MMOs used to be about mechanics and gameplay. Now it's supposed to be soft-porn or something.

I think you're just jealous there's no female Dwarves
