Also something about having a crosshair for ranged attacks, rather than the 'select target + fire' method in many MMO's. Heard its been in development forever though, over in europe, I've really been waiting for some kind of pre-release deluge of info. Haven't seen a whole lot really, other than the Darkfall site/forums. Also when I looked into trying to get into beta, seems they had beta invites given out to established clans and that invites are closed for now. Haven't heard anything on that recently though, so this might have changed. Really wanted to try this though, it's right up there with Warhammer:O on my list of games to anticipate. | Player built cities, sieging said cities, being able to take over land and have it show up on the map, basically everything SB provided PvP-wise and more. Ship vs. ship combat, good PVE content (granted just a developer promise, who knows whether this is true), huge seamless world, skill based system rather than level based. If they really deliver on everything, it's going to be awesome (for pvpers). It's been in development for 7 years... EDIT: just watched the video, pretty impressive actually. They've come a long way.

+2 Internets | Yeah, when watching that I was thinking it looked more like a FPS then an MMO. Looks good though and it should be interesting once they get it out of that dark, dark cloud of vaporware that seems to have been hanging over the entire development of Darkfall. |

| Skill based Aimed combat (all of it is aimed) tons of skills (500 skills 500 spells) city building loot from mobs is not as good as stuff made from players full open looting of players corpses and mobs (whatever a mob is fighting you with he is going to drop, which means armor and all) ship pvp full open pvp the world is huge and with no mass teleports it will make city sieging and pvp really interesting...

+3 Internets | Its like UO2. The Devs themselves are gamers, that didnt like the way MMOs evolved and decided that make it better - darkfall was born. Claus himself stated that he was a UO PK and AC Darktide PK. However, the game itself isnt PvP only. It has territorial control, and thats very important, a skillbased pvp system and so on... but its like UO: A virtual World to experience. PvE, Trading, Crafting are not only features or additional options, but also part of the darkfall-core and the devs stated many times that darkfall isnt just a pvp game. The economy will be similiar to eve, opening the gate for traders. Full Loot makes the player-based economy work. But back to the important part: PvP. Like in Shadowbane, you will have keepes and sieges. But no 3 AM ninjaraids. Unlike Shadowbane, this will be more about getting control than completely destroying it. And control is very important, because the world is freaking huge (quote: "we spend 18 months worldbuilding, its so large its almost stupid") and teleport travel is more than limited. You are going to ride and walk alot. However, you can teleport from your own keep to your own keep to save time. And you can open that options to the public or not - your choice. Beside the starting cities, the gameworld is in playercontrol. No safezones (starting cities and other areas will have guards) will screw griefers completely. The way such games work, back to the roots. Its mix of EVE and UO. Damn, gotta stop im drooling again =( |

| Design concepts look interesting, I hope the technical side(minimal lag and good client performance, no crashes) pans out for them as well, unlike Shadowbane.

| It's basicly the only hope for true mmo pvp'ers (who aren't into eve type games) coming out anytime soon. I've kept an eye on it for a while now - and it's great on paper. Unfortuantly, we all know how these kinda games usually turn out. All we can do is hope. I'd compare it most to UO2, no carebears allowed. I'm fairly excited. I'm hoping they learn a lot from watching VG go out.

| for all the bitching about VG's development time you guys seem to let DF slide by.... This game has been in development for like 10+ years.... I am still not convinced this shit isn't vaporware. Anyone know someone that has actually played it? I've heard its still "friends and family" beta(been like this for years). Anyways, this is the game that my pvp guild(from uo, ac, sb) have been looking forward to forever. We gave up on it about a year ago after hearing less and less from the devs. More so we signed up for the guild beta thing years ago, and then got fucked out of it with some lame excuse like "we were not able to validate all of your guild member submissions..." although we chekced and all email addresses and names were correct. Pretty fucking shady. Anyways, if this game does come out im sure i will give it a try. I miss a good hardcore pvp game like UO was. |

| another cool thing about the world building is that it was not randomly generated. Everything about a city, the land, the entire structure of the world was build for a reason and by a person. and DF while has been in development for a while, during the early stages it was just a few people working on it. Now that they have some more money they have been able to hire more developers, sound and graphics people. Yeah my guild was on of the first to get an invite into the guild beta they will be starting here in the next few months, and we have a guy taht works for the community team that says everything is coming along as planned.
