Yeah, people don't call out Hiram ever. And yes, Tad's post was stupid.

Anyway, just because it's possible to suck at something doesn't mean that NOT sucking takes phat skills. Since we are all about analogies today, it's like driving. I know some shitty ass drivers. I drive well. However, I do not consider driving to be a challenging endeavor. Some people just suck at driving.

I wish I could remember who first said it, but the only people who think EQ was hard are those who suck at video games. I played EQ for 4 years as an Enchanter, whom many consider the most difficult class to play well. While it definitely took more "skill" than many other classes I played, I never considered the class or game challenging.

Lastly, Vynde's list of what made EQ challenging is a joke. So I assume that you consider Diablo Hardcore to be more challenging than any MMO? And Kithicor? Seriously? You mean that zone that which was easily traversed even at night by hugging the zone walls?

Home: OnlineCdKey.com - Online CD Key has 10-day keys for $2.99. And no I have no affiliation with them -- posting merely for those people who want to check out VG w/o paying $50.00 for a box.

Sweet, I'm worthy of 1 of your 10 posts since 2002. So you honestly think any person no matter how retarded could play EQ or VG or the actually hard parts of WoW? Interesting.

So, back on topic, does anyone know the typical MMORPG retention rate beyond the free month? I've heard 60% of box-sales translate into longer term subs, but I have no idea how accurate that figure is. In VG's favour, many of the box sales may be players who have played beta or used a buddy key, and therefore bought with the intention of subscribing. However working against them are the high system reqs, and premature launch, so more than normal numbers may cancel due to poor performance or frustration with bugs.

I'll be joining in about 3 months, guys. Waiting for my DSL, and some bugs with VG to be worked out.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that there isn't a typical MMORPG retention rate and it's impossible to even begin to answer that without defining your terms. Does retention mean forever, one month, two months, a year? Paying, or actually logging in? Including SOE all-access pass? Does Guild Wars qualify as a MMORPG? Diablo? Eve? All these games have such different retention rates, while the 'classical' mmo's are so few in number it's kind of irrelevant to apply statistics. I remember reading, although I have no idea if it's true, that a significant portion of people, say 8%, who bought EQ never even logged in.

More skill? I wouldn't say that. Entirely different skill? I'd agree.

Hardcore server would be cool in a MMO, I wouldn't play it but I'd love to see the fucking drama threads because some jack off trains some higher level guy a bunch of mobs he can't handle just to kill him.

Since when is "onlinecdkey.com" the same as Vanguard?

Or did you, in your eagerness to add another bit of ignorance to Vanguard threads, fail to comprehend that he was referring to onlinecdkey when he said he had no affiliation?
