How can anyone defend strict-CS policies when the state of the game is so fucking buggy? If anything, they should rez you and give you extra experience for paying to test their game. Fix the game, then worry about people trying to pull one over on you for a free rez.

This is pretty much my op on the issue. Given the bugs the (for lack of a better phrase) burden of proof is on the GM/Sigil to show that the player is trying to exploit somehow -- otherwise give the player the item/XP they're petitioning for.

* * *

And where are the GM events where they are giving out special items?

Aye, people should be getting help, bonuses, whatever for playing during a buggy time. If you know and admit your shipping early and going to have some issues you can't treat these now paying customers poorly or they will bring down hell.

My question would be "What the hell are you guys doing to need that amount of CS intervention?". 4 or 5 lost corpses at chunk-lines? WTF.

I don't know if I'm lucky, but I haven't had a single issue that I would consider petitioning about. The closest I came was getting stuck in the terrain (after I was trying to jump/dodge/squeeze past some mobs) and getting in that "floating" state where you can't recall. /stuck solved the issue in about a minute.

As for the pack of feral idiots who insist on posting negative stuff at every turn...you need a new hobby. I can understand that this game isn't for you, WoW wasn't for me. However I would consider having a 1 hour queue to get on the server just as game breaking (at least to me) as having to regrind 20 minutes of xp for a lost corpse.

when looking at his answer in the context of the question he was answering it is either 100K + subs or boxes sold, yeah a little vague as to which one but in either case it is over 100K playing and growing each day.

I agree the benefit of the doubt should be given to the customer, personally I have yet to lose a corps that was not from my own mistake (going someplace I should not have) and the alter has worked well for me.

Best way to avoid needing GM help for corpse recovery is to avoid the Hound of Garm...

What they need to bring back in terms of CS is the server specific GMs that were around in the early-middle days of EQ. God, I know Ennya will probably remember her but I don't, that one GM on Morell-Thule who used to broadcast crazy roleplay shit when the boats were down (every other day or so), she was the shit. Name started with a K I think, I remember she mispelled a bunch of shit too, which made it all the funnier.

Sure, for every good story with them there was a story of GM corruption from being involved with one guild or another, but goddamn, I always liked the feeling that on the rare occasion something bugged out happened and I was stuck, the people helping me out were people I was familiar with and not random dude 01.

The Vanguard GMs are probably so swamped right now with both bugs and silly questions from people who aren't sure of the game mechanics yet that it will take a few weeks for things to settle down and for them to get really effective.

I think the answer we have already is about all were going to ever get on those numbers. It might be Sigil's game and intellectual property but it rides on and is supported by SOE, and it's under station pass as well, and those guys never release accurate numbers, ever.

That number is straight box sales.

including or not including digital downloads? That's how I bought the game, and it was nice and convenient, so I am curious. I'm unclear on if that counts as a "box sale" because I've heard yes and no at different times.

i would imagine that it would count as a box sale. you are still spending the same amount of money on it, you are just getting it through a download

I got on a boat. I realized I was on the wrong boat, and it was going to take me to a different continent. My recall was down. I watched for a while, and then went afk to take a shower while it made the trip.

When I got back 15 minutes later, I was dead on the boat with the countdown dialog box up. I looked at my log. I'd died 6 times to drowning. I was confused as to how that would be possible when I was afk on a boat the whole time. As I sat there confused, I got the "placing character on the boat" message, and my character came back to life on the boat, without my input at all. A few seconds later, a breath meter came up. I decided not to intervene to see what would happen. I died from drowning again.

As far as I could tell, I never left any tombstones because I never clicked the button, and even if I had left tombstones, they'd be out in the middle of the ocean. I just died over and over again to drowning while afk on a boat.

It's funny because it's true.

Try the inter-continental teleporter next time. Less deaths due to drowning.
