What hardware are you looking for to run this monster? Obviously you're looking at a top of the line machine, but what type of video cards / ram / etc make the game run fairly smooth?

My money says not even close. And then it would be great to re-review that number 6 months down the road.

I'm a hater not because I want it to fail. It's because I wanted it to succeed with every fiber of my being... but the game is SO bad, it has dashed all hopes.

It doesnt take a top end machine to run the game smoothly a 6800gt will do that on ballanced. The main problem I saw in beta that has filtered over to release is the average Joe just doesn't understand how to tweek or maintain there system in the slightest way. If you want to run the game balls out 50fps + with all the eye candy on you will need something like a core2duo 6600+ 8800gts/gtx 2gigs of qualtiy ram corsair, kingston not value ram or geil crap. Throw in a 150g 10k raptor maybe an extra drive for a page file whatever floats your boat, but you hardly need a 2k-3k system to run the game.

Problem with that is their will be a large number of people subscribing to the station all access because of this game, I know that its a major appeal for me that I'd get to play EQ and EQ2 cheaply in addition whenever I pick this up.

I maintain my system extremely well and i got chopiness in cities. I Still got chopiness in cities with a signifigant upgrade to my computer. The game is poor at managing hard drive transactions and ram.

personally, im having a ton of fun on Friona vei server in eq. Im gonna bust around here for 4-5 months then perhaps return to Vanguard once its more established.

Yeah, I absolutely do not understand the people saying VG was made for 'machines 2 years away'. I ran it fine on my 2.5 year old machine with a 6800, graphics mid quality. You could have a machine that costs $1kish today playing it with all the bells and whistles on.

Do most people buy new comps every 5 years or something? Hell this comp I have now is the longest I've kept one, and I hardly consider myself one of those people that need to be on the bleeding edge. Is every 2 years really that unreasonable for buying a new comp?

I'm fairly sure any store ordering TBC got the maximum amount available to them to purchase.

Stores like Gamestop/EB Games, if they are unsure of how a game will sell, they basically order like 5 copies of the game -- this is particularly true with PC games, which often times they order maybe 2 copies. I seriously would not be suprised at all to hear that the average store order of Vanguard was 5 copies per store. So yeah, I'm not surprised at all to hear you or anyone else have problems finding the game. Hell, I had problems finding a copy of Star Trek Legacy when it first released

Actually I think it will be the other way around, people who already subscribe to the station pass will be more inclined to buy the game since the cost would be one shot. I am sure some will also be new subsrcibers, but I would be surprised to see high numbers for that. The real test will be the 2nd month of the game where people actually have to start paying for subscriptions (I am assuming the first 30 days are free, correct me if I am wrong). My shelf is full of games I bought and looked at for one day heheh.

What I suspect will happen will be a steady stream to VG over the months as the game improves. I would be shocked as hell if they come even close to 1/20th WOW numbers tho.

Yes, it really is. I personally don't know anyone who buys a new computer every two years.

Say what you want, but the req's are one of the biggest reasons why Vanguard isn't going to do very good.

I agree with Korbal here. I really want to play Vanguard, but I am dirt poor and my current setup just can't handle Vanguard with any sort of acceptable quality.

If the reqs were similar to WoW, I would be playing it.

I do understand that with WoW requirements Vanguard wouldn't look as good but fuck I want to play it and my piece of shit computer can't handle it.

Anecdotal evidence will pave the way to true enlightenment. The game hasn't even officially been out a whole day and you guys are...god damn. Wait a week, would you please?

This was always my biggest issue with VG, but honestly, if you havent played in the past week, dont bet on it. They have improved performance WAY more than I thought possible.

I pulled the last copy from Best Buy 1 hour ago here in Jersey.
