| Vanguard Server Issues The VG launch has been pretty smooth, but there's one major issue that has gone unresolved. Several chunks on several servers have gone down for great lengths of time, and there has been absolutely NO response from SOE/Sigil. What happens is a chunk goes down indefinitely, and any time you run a character into this invisible "wall" to the downed chunk, there's a good chance your character is unplayable until that chunk comes up. Last night, the Vulmane starting area chunk was down for approximately two hours. Worse yet, Lomshir Plains on Gulgrethor has been down for at least 15 hours now. That's right, 15, with several characters, my own included, trapped inside. But this only serves to highlight the biggest problem VG has atm. NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT. They closed the official VG forums, so there's nowhere to officially post technical support / server issues. There's no forum where they can quickly throw out server updates, or even acknowledge problems. I've sent customer support emails, filed petitions, etc., all without response. In other words, we have first gen customer support, ala EQ, in what is supposed to be a third gen game. |

| The game itself is spectacular. It's the customer support that leaves much to be desired. I mean, seriously, a post from a dev stating that they're aware of the issue, no ETA on a fix, would be sufficient, because then at least players would know it's on their radar. As it stands now, nothing. They really, really, really need to open a Server Status forum just like WoW has. Like, within the next hour. Edit: And I really want to reiterate that the game is extremely fun. It has its quirks and needs polish, but the improvements they've made between the start of Beta 5 and now are extraordinary. +1 Internets | Thats the whole reason why they put the offical release date for the 30th, anything that happens before that means nothing. The game is not "officially" launched yet. |

| Sony customer support has always sucked. Fortuantely the launch has gone very smoothly. Much to the suprise of all the naysayers here. The early was a huge help to pre-orders to get the noobie areas less crowded when the game releases to the masses next week.

| Being that the game isn't even officially live yet, this really isn't much of a surprise. The launch for the "digital download" folks (i.e. you) has been, for the most part, quite smooth. I think its really not worth posting about VG server issues though when the game is not live for the masses yet. Whether they crash and burn then, or run smoothly -- that will be the real test. |

I can only guess they were having hardware issues for the chunk to be down that long. Probably had to replace a chunk server. No excuse for the lack of information to customers re chunk crash and EU servers. People are now paying money to play -- so they deserve to be kept in the loop. * * * As to the usual fucktards on a VG thread -- when was the last time you played the game Menion and HC? If the answer isn't today then fuck off and go back to your holes.

+1 Internets | i love it when a new VG thread starts with something negative to say. All the fuck bags that love to hate Vanguard jump out of the woodworks and lay on the big "Yea! what did we tell you!" e-peen+1 rant. Reagardless, dont take this 1 review as gospel. It's actually the first i've heard of it. Everything else i've read was that everything was very stable. Maybe 1-2 crashes over 20 hours periods, but that's acceptable IMHO. As for the chunk issues the OP was experiencing, it may just have been a faulty piece of hardware *shrugs* It'll get fixed and run as well as the rest of the game. As for those of you who dont care about the game, arent playing and are just here to massage your internet egos and pat yourselves on the back for your pathetic flames... well... no one gives a shit? |
