This is the price you pay for skimping on patch delivery systems.

in case that link doesnt work, here is the wiki - Blizzard Downloader - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I usually use Blizz .torrent file to download patches with Bitlord. Go to "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Cache\BackgroundDownload.torrent", double click it and you're good to go. When the file finishes downloading just move it to "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Patches" and run the game. Way faster than using their downloaders (fuck their background downloader).

no, you need to open the ports on the router, if you dont have access to the router, no blizz patcher for you.

Seriously, Blizzard should just have a "Download using alternative Bittorrent client" button on their patcher and let people use what the fuck ever they want.

The good news is that you're still alive. The bad news is that that's the good news. Also, you have no legs.

Well, a nice stealth addition to this patch was the removal of worthwhile experience and honor for doing the Tower capture quest in Hellfire. I got alot of experience, tokens and rep from it and I'm sad to see that form of progression get banished. It was really fun, too.

It was formerly 6900 experience and 250 thrallmar rep with 3 tokens per run, not it's only 1600 experience and 10 thrallrep along with the 3 tokens. Boo =(

Just an fyi not sure if its always like this, but i was having trouble with this patch (it seems anything thats small i cant download, but bigs ones i can...?) and i went to the tech forums, they had like 4 different links by a blizzard mod saying where you can download it from. Took one of those a whole few seconds and I was good to go.

Not sure if its like this for every patch but its worth checking that forum to see if links are posted.

This sucks, just finished downloading the patch (18.2 MB for euro btw), and it tells me my wow.exe isn't in the right size and I need to reinstall, fu blizz
Guess that's what I get for using the beta client...

The question was raised, and it's simple. Your wow.exe is the right size. However, the duplicate wow.exe stored in one of the MPQ is still a debug-enabled beta version which none of the patchers (so far) tried to replace.

Solution: install the real client (assuming that, unlike me, your CD2 works and doesn't give you IO errors after 200Mb), or get a 2.0.5 backup-enGB.mpq

With all ports open I get a "Tracker not responding" problem that persists for hours. I started patching on one computer last night and woke up this morning and it had gotten 3mbs downloaded of the 4. That's 15 hours.

Good thing I wasn't planning on playing on that computer and used a mirror site to download the file in just under 5 seconds on my other computer.

For some reason, the installer rebuilds the mpqs from scratch while installing. Most of the time is spent on that, not the copying.

Something was definitely fucked with last night's patch. In the past, I have had very few problems with the Blizzard downloader. I have all the right ports forwarded - yeah, it's usually slower than I'm used to with Azureus, but whatever, it got the job done. Last night I had to do the stop/start thing to keep it moving; otherwise, it would grind to a halt with only one or two peers showing.

I wonder if the small patch means less people seeding - unlike your regular torrent downloader, the Blizzard one stops seeding after you get the whole file. I'm sure there are other possible reasons, but something was definitely up and it wasn't on our end.
