Cho'gall has been flawless for the first 18 hours. A few lag spikes that caused a wipe in ramparts, which led to the Boss not respawning. That was it though. Perfect otherwise.

BC looks like more of the same. A better, more polished, more cohesive more of the same that will no doubt satisfy anyone that is happy with WoW currently, but still more of the same. No new class, no new mechanics, no underwater zones .. nothing that couldn't have been in at WoW release.

Edit: I'm really not trying to convince anyone or pick a fight here. I'm glad that most WoW players are happy with the expansion and that the launch seems to be going unexpectedly smoothly. I was just speaking my mind. Opinions are like assholes etc.

i dont think it can be compared to EQand its expansions. All the major changes brought with EQ expansions were in the original WoW.

what sort of game changing thing would you have liked/expected?

Ner'Zhul seems flawlessly stable. I don't think there have been any crashes or bugs. I'm still undecided as to whether I am making a warlock or a priest though...so I haven't started to level up anything quite yet. I must say though, I am quite bewildered that this launch has gone so well. Wow.

I don't think my ping has gone above 149ms yet. Having zero problems with noob crowding when doing my quests and everything seems to work just fine. Having a blast, but damn this uncomfortable chair for making me need a break!

While admittedly the expansion is only one day old, it may end up being a fair point, there is no need for WoW players (myself included) to get defensive. After all, if that is the biggest complaint that can be raised against BC is that "it didn't offer any radical new mechanics", that aint bad.

I imagine there are some other developers (one in particular I can think of) that would love nothing more than a review similar to "more of the same, polished, fun gameplay." I suspect that would be considered a miraculous, glowing review for a certain MMORPG I won't mention . . . .

Hm.
A new class. Outdoor raiding zones. A better incentive system for non-instanced pvp a la Daoc whose effect go beyond one area / zone. Underwater stuff. Long questlines that allow you to get skills that differentiate your character (like quested for 41 point talents). New item types. Mounted pvp (dogfighting!). Original Battlegrounds (something other than ctf / koth). A new faction. Renki-style attack combinations between characters in a group .. Something that wasn't in at WoW release in a rougher state, basicaly.

How are the drops in general? I got so sick of WoW I haven't played for 6 months and really had no interest in the expansion because my gear is mostly not raid loot. Just curious. If my lack of raid gear can be made up by some of the new drops, maybe I will give it a shot.

I saw some links to low 60's greens and they were impressive. Some new mod is like +15 spell dmg/healing +14 spell crit rating and 20 int or something. I think that was just a single mod.

Saw a link to some wicked random world drop blue lvl 61 plate gloves with 20ish str/stam/int +5 mana/5 and +19 or so spell/heal.

Ah I was off on the gloves, these are them: Thottbot World of Warcraft: Gauntlets of Purification

Now if I can just make my friend hold them while I gain 50 levels on my BE

So yeah, you don't need anything to start off fresh. Someone who replaces all their gear won't be much behind someone who only needs to replace a few pieces.. until you start doing heroic dungeons and raids apparently.

Lack of raid gear should be no cause of concer whatsoever. Half the people I know are switching mains in TBC specifically because unless you are rolling in T3 you are really giving up nothing by doing so. I'm going from a mage to a druid now just because it seems raiding with a druid holds the premise of being somewhat more engaging and I've already picked up 2-3 nice items from quests and I'm not even 61 yet.

Edit: Kildace, I think the main thing is that they are actually delivering on what they promised will be in the game. And while not totally new you can't say that each sphere of advancement at max level (group, raid and pvp) is very well fleshed out now with the raid game maybe being the least fleshed out of all 3.

I changed factions to mess around in beta, I wanted to see how well my DM geared lvl 60 hunter would fare in outlands. He did great, netherweave bandages and the fact that you wont be able to burn them fast enough was a great boost to solo/duo play.

Far as gear went he had replaced most of his stuff with MC/BWL comparable gear via quest rewards and a few instance runs by the time I was 62. From there the upgrades were incremental (2 more ap and 4 more sta on the quest reward bracer from the next zone).

New green drops are probably as good as old world blue crap. However, don't start feeling so powerful, this is a typical MMO. The new mobs are rough. You will only feel the power when fighting old world mobs that no one cares about anymore.

....but then again, this is the cycle that we love so much or do we ?
