| So, not going to lie I have only read bits and pieces about this game so far but I am interested. It comes out in about a week and I really dont know if this will be a good game or not. Can anyone give some quick, up to date, feedback on this game, who exactly will it tailor to gamer wise(casual, hardcore, all of the above)? etc.. thanks

+3 Internets | Right now all the above? Its hard to judge because I'm not really sure what I am anymore, hardcore or casual. Some mixed jaded wannabe in between I guess? Its got both the feel of an MMO 3rd person with the mouse look/pace of a fps. The skill trees and UI remind me of something last generation a little dated, but the 'fun' factor is up there. How long it will keep your interest or you'll hate it, I have no idea. I plan on buying it. This was posted today and wasn't a bad read... Richard Garriott's Tabula RasaŽ **edit** The game was pushed back till the end of this month if I remember correctly. |

| It's a shallow game that so far you play 100% alone with no side attractions to keep you occupied. It's just run around and spam an attack over and over again.

+40 Internets | Spamming an attack over and over? Sounds like every single MMO ever made in the history of online gaming with an auto attack button. If your going to bash a game you might as well do it right or not at all. This game has game play issues, I agree whole heartily. But bashing the way you shoot your gun over and over or use certain abilities every time is a statement that serves no one any purpose whatsoever in looking at this game positively or negatively. Just thought I would throw that out there. |

| So what is it you do besides shoot and sprint that is necessary to advance? While many MMOs are button mashy, there is a difference in having to mash one of several or more and know when to mash and only having to click the left mouse button. It's like Diablo 2 combat.. but worse.

| Tyen is a TR fanboi afterall. There is nothing you do in combat. You left click your mouse button to shoot your gun like an FPS but you don't have to aim. You use the 1-5 keys to switch between the 5 different guns. You click the right mouse button to use your ability you have selected, selecting them with the 6-0 keys. There are no abilities I've seen that are worth using. Lightning is pretty good, but you get that at level 1 or 2. Oh yes you cycle through guns with q and abilities with e. It's very hard to interact with people because your mouse moves your camera. |

+40 Internets | Every MMO known to man has an auto attack button. Tabula Rasa's is left click, you can even hold down left click to shoot. I'm "almost" sure that you can change the left click to shoot to A so you can have the same exact setup as any other MMO. If not now, they will probably throw it in when they let you change around the UI (wtf). The discussion of left clicking being a burden therefore making it a valid excuse of TR being 100% lame is a poor point. You, being someone who is able to take part in bashing, might aswell bring up the high end raiding. That, sir, is a discussion you will win (which seems what you are looking for). I will play for a few months maybe even a year, but past that I can't see myself playing any farther. The game is fun but it is no "the next WoW". The no group content, ammo grades, lack of close communication with others, and the raid content bothers me. I'm in no way thinking this is the mecca of MMOs but I do give it credit to being a good game. Last edited by Tyen : 10-11-2007 at 08:44 PM. |

| It's not about winning anything, it's about the main staple of these games being combat and it is 100% lame in TR after a few hours of it. No, that's not the only thing that is lame there are a lot of things. It would actually be easier to list the positives of the game and paint everything else with the 'it sucks ass' brush. Let's see.. it has some pretty decent graphics in spots, it's not fantasy_game_767 and it.. well, thats all I got. Everything else it has (or doesn't have) sucks ass.

| But there is nothing involved in combat other than running around shooting stuff. At least in traditional MMOs you get an array of skills and abilities that add flavor to combat. 2bit described it well, it's just like D2 but slightly worse and less complicated. TR isn't lame. It's a nice little arcade game to play around with. You can't compare it to any modern MMOs. |

+40 Internets | TR's combat system is just like any other game except with guns and a different key. It seems that instead of you saying "TR's combat system is lame" you are leaning more towards, "I want a combat system that differs from 1999 games". Therefore, it is less of TR's mechanics and more of innovation. You do get abilities as your go up but it is nothing to the amount of say EQ2 where you have 4 hotkey menus open. I've always loved less hotkeys but more value in any game I have played. |

| When I was playing I crouched(only if rifle), pointed my torqueshell rifle/OP netgun, and one rounded each individual NPC. Have they nerfed the netgun yet or is it supposed to be able to kill a stalker 10 levels above you before it uses the full amount of the DoT? That is without crouching because netguns don't benefit from crouching. I honestly enjoyed the frustrating early levels more when half the mobs in each pack had a couple immunities or a shield bot and I was forced to carry 3 distinct rifles to pick off particular segments of the opposing force. At higher levels 1 gun handled 99% of my encounters - incendiary net gun. Never did get around to all this lol-shotgun shit some folks talk about. I did it occasionally when my stealth was blown by escorts, some freak mob, or I just came around a corner/opened a door. Mostly it was normal rifle, net gun, torqueshell rifle.
