WoW - RDX (Decursive Reborn)

I've been testing quite a few add-ons since 2.0 and I know there was much discussion on what would replace Decursive. Therefore, I thought the healers might be interested in some test results. (hope this wasn't posted yet, been busy)

RDX (Free Version not to be confused with the PAY version) - RDX.Cid by Cidian

This is the one I'm going with unless someone found something better. It can heal and cure with the least amount of memory leaks of any I've tested. Healbot could hardly keep up in AV at all -- my FPS dropped to 9! GRID was almost as bad. With this last version of RDX as of the 19th, it's running very smooth and the leaks were addressed. This version also includes a nice assist feature with target depths up to 5.

The downside: You still have up to 40 units on the screen but you can fade them and the colors (called decorations in RDX) make it easier to live with.

You can also resize and adjust them with RDX, which is still lacking with the default UI.

Hope this helps, Kolle. I know you wanted to see this!

And here's the growing list of 2.0 Addons while I'm here:

So, how exactly does it work? Does one just spam a bound/macro key like the old Decursive allowed?

I just use Grid's debuff indicators, and use a macro to cleanse whoever I'm currently mousing over. Works well enough for me... That global cooldown gives me just enough time to mouse to the next target.

I'm sure this mod will help some players though.

Not exactly. You still must choose your targets by mousing over them just as you do in GRID. To set it up, you choose from a list of spells in the Casting part of the Menu which is pretty straight forward. I set up mine to do Left Mouse Click for Flash Heal. Shift+Left Mouse Click for Holy Light. Right Mouse Click is my Cleanse (cure).

I set it with a "decoration" (coloring) of Simple Fade. What that does is fades out those not in need of heals and I don't see them at all when I choose a glass-top theme.

I also chose a red-outline for anyone afflicted with a disease I can cure. Those people flash with a red outline when poisoned, etc and I just right click on them to dispell it. This recent version has the debuff indicators you have now in GRID. There's also a tutorial on that link that walks you right through it and a forum.

My problem with GRID was the FPS rate dropping, especially in AV. It wasn't as bad as Healbot was, but it was unplayable during large population fights. The others were worse then just using the default UI.

I'm not sure if GRID has addressed their FPS issues yet, but I'd be interested how you're doing with that.

From what I understand, Cidian's goal is to rewrite the now pay for version of RDX (RDX | Raid Data Exchange, so this is a work in progress worth keeping an eye on imo. I have no idea how much of that he intends to put into his version however. He did just add the assist portion this week and is taking suggestions.

I *loved* RDX 5.0 - practically indispensable for me during raids before 2.0 - the features and information available to you is simply astounding, and I can honestly say it made me a better healer overall. It has a steep learning curve, and there are options, upon options, upon options. But ultimately it is worth the trouble in my opinion.

Just use Smart Buff/Debuff. It gives you a small window with numbered boxes, that auto sizes. They light up when someone is cursed/diseased/magic and for priest you right click to cure disease and left click for dispell.

im baffled why people keep pointing to completely simplistic solutions that add a minimum of convenience and calling them 'decursive reborn'.

Decursive is permanently dead, and nothing is ever going to be in the game that makes decursing even close to that easy again.

Cute methods of making it easier to click on one out of 40(or 25) targets are NOT decursive and don't have anything whatsoever to do with that mod.

"Decursive" is sort of synonymous with "easily decurse someone". People have found workable alternatives to the Decursive Mod, and whether Blizzard completely gutted the abilities Decursive had or not, people will forever reference Decursive as an easy way to describe what's being done.

I for one am quite happy that the whole anti-decursive etc policy gave rise to Clique and Grid. Combined they provide better functionality (which previously really wasn't so needed) than I had in the past.

As stated above Smartbuff/debuff works the same as decursive. I don't see why everyone had their panties in a bunch when they got rid of it.

Hmm, you know I haven't really tested it for memory leaks/FPS issues. My machine has been running like shit lately, so I wouldn't have thought to even check the mod out. I'll play an AV later without it and see if there are any gains.

Eh, I like Grid + Clique better than this RDX (at least in it's current form). Plus I do not have any framerate issues at all. Granted, I am running a Pentium-D at 4GHz, but even still, there is no excuse for anyone to have a shitty computer (especially in order to run WoW decently) these days.

My issue with a lot of these "grid" style healer mods is that it's a mess of information -- can't see the forest for the trees, so to speak. I do NOT want to stare at a bunch of boxes on the screen. I wish I could program, because I would make a mod that simply displayed NOTHING on your screen until certain criteria is met (like health below a certain %, etc.). That way I can keep my eyes on the action, but can still see something appear on-screen in my field of vision.

I believe you can do that with RDX. But I'd like to hear more from people who are using it currently, interested in possibly moving my guild to it but the team does a shit job of updating their features list. It's been the same since the site went up and a number of things that were selling points for me were under "future" features.
