| EQ2 PVP: 2 steps forwards... 2 back. The days after EOF was introduced were nice. Casters had a chance, some of the overpowered classes that seriously deserved nerfing, like brigands, were nerfed. But now resist rates are back to the insane place they were before. I'm getting 60+% resist rates, which, for anyone with a clue, will realize I'm dying 60% of the time because my stifle or root is resisted. But wait, I thought they nerfed the overpowered classes!?! No, sunshine, they didn't. They're just as overpowered as they were at the height of the imbalance. They nerfed a brig's stuns and stifles, but instead added in assassinate lite. Yes, virginia, now brigands through use of the EOF aas can make a little macro hotkey that does 3 attacks, and then a special ability that repeats those 3 attacks. Universal cooldownschmooldown, I have plenty of logs of a brig launching 6 special attacks in less than a second interval, killing me instantly. Brigands now have their famed utility, and something that is tantamount to assassinate with a minute cooldown. Wow! Such amazing design! Not to mention with the 60% resist rate they don't even NEED that versus a caster, with their unresistable root and their normal attacks they can still destroy a caster if the caster isn't way better, have the jump (LOL AGAINST SOMEONE WITH TRACK? HAHA), or gets resisted (60% of the time with a ton of AAs and +disruption gear!). Bruisers, bruisers were nerfed somewhat, but of course, they still were fucking powerful. And they add in an ability (unresistable of course) that is equal to a root, grapple. Now I can't even fucking run from a bruiser. They're immune to my roots, stuns, and now I can't even fucking flee because they've rooted me and now they're going to rape my corpse with their DPS and their spam of melee hits which ensures I never get a spell off (same thing with brigs and their fucking root). I don't know if they're supposed to be able to attack while it's up, but I certainly have had that happen a bunch. Whoever balanced fucking PVP didn't fucking talk to the EOF people because the EOF AA and itemization fucking destroyed all the balance someone put thought into. Here's a hint, -10% resist rate to my ice nova is nice, but doesn't do SHIT when I have it and I still get a 60% resist rate versus anyone with decent gear. And it doesn't do shit when you add in all sorts of instant, unresistable abilities, that completely counter all the innate advantages a caster has. I Oh yeah, right now, there is some dude who played a north american botter RL cash and is killing him over and over until the recent list resets in order to get the fabled PVP gear for no effort. I've petitioned a GM and no response, no one stopping them. There's also a guild had 3 people suspended and stripped who sploited up to 6 pieces in the first week, but the 15 people who never PVP'd but mysteriously have 2 or 3 major pieces worth 500 or so tokens (1000 solo kills or more) didn't get shit done to them. They learned their lesson, slow and steady on the sploiting! edit: and yeah, if you can't tell, I'm sorta pissed just a little. Last edited by Schatze; 12-11-2006 at 01:32 AM.. |

+1 Internets | Uh, why the hostility to this guy? If you want to complain about this mmo pvp thread than go bitch about every single WoW thread on this forum because every last one of them has someone complaining about hunters or warlocks. Jesus, even I'm less of a twat than half the posters in this thread. As for EQ2 pvp itself I haven't found much to write home about thus far. It seems mainly to be about who has the most amount of master skills and considering that you can only get so powerful at the early levels due to equipment levels I can only imagine the full-fledged idiocy that is invoked at cap level. You have two expansions worth of AAs, gear, and the new deity bullshit worth of shit all thrown in. I can't say that I'm exactly crying over not leveling very quickly in the game.

| Granted I'm only a measly 05'er so obviously my opinion doesn't hold much weight... But it seems like, at least in this thread, each of you is simply trying to outdo each other in terms of who can be the biggest e-witty board warrior in mocking the OP. I don't know where the posting value is in doing that and it draws interesting parallels to the WoW forum tradition of posting "1st", "2nd", and so forth. I agree with Digits too, honestly wtf? There has to be multiple fucking threads devoted to individual WoW classes and this guy brings up a broad topic like "caster survivability in EQ2 PvP" and he gets shat on. My two cents.

| ^^ You're about to get poop in your eye. Get your goggles out. I think he's getting shit on because EQ2 pvp has been hashed out about 28 times on these forums with the resounding conclusion being: EQ2 pvp sucks and nothing but 100% improvement will ever be a surprise to anyone again in regards to the entire topic of conversation. |

EQ2 pvp is unbalanced and insanely frustrating but it is still fun, much like WoW pvp. If anything there should be a louder outcry about EQ2 pvp because, unlike Blizzard, Sony went the smart route and created separate rule sets for both servers and abilities. They just motivation to continue tweaking and altering the rule set for everything else and they may get along to something that resembles balance.
