Id wager a bet that the banned Cedega users constituted less than .1% of the people caught up in that sweep.

It's funny to go look back at that whole thread and see so many people immediately throw the Linux "whiners" under the bus.

The thing that gets me is that Blizzard posters in the CS forums were saying that no people were banned on accident.

It's impossible to use linux and cheat right? I wonder how many people that were legitimately banned get unbanned out of this.

Not impossible in the least. The thing was, Cedega, which you might have heard of by the name of WineX, allows windows emulation of directx programs. This is what they were being flagged for.

Wish they would just release a native client. It can't be that hard.

My account was banned this way. I didn't even bother with the other thread, it was obvious that the majority of the people participating in that thread didn't believe it.

We have a guildie who runs WoW in linux but was not banned. I wonder what the tip off for those who were banned for linux was.

Cedega version, probably. They often release custom fixes for specific games to fix specific issues. It's likely one of these fixes caused a red flag to go off.
