| I'm not an experienced level 4 mission runner, but from all I've heard getting a Gist shield booster is the first piece of expensive/faction gear you want to spend money on, not a CNR. Could be wrong, though. CNRs look nice - but for an extra launcher and 3750 shields, 1+ billion is a lot of isk. A Gist B-Type booster costs like 500M I believe, and it increases your shield boosting by 20% and does it for less than half the energy of a C5-L.

I actually favoure the catalyst as the best destroyer to use since with expanders in low I can get up to 830 m3 cargo space, combined with good cap use which can get low when salvage a lot in a row. | |

| I would definitely at least try your lvl 4 setup once in a lvl 3 before taking the plunge. I got bored last week in my myrmidon at around 4mil sp's and tried a lvl 4 (Pirate Slaughter with Angel's) and it was rather ugly. Mostly due to explosive damage but still nasty. You will get warp jammed, webbed, etc by fast moving frigs while the big stuff moves in. Point being I was very confident with my myrm in lvl 3's. But even knowing what to do won't really prepare you for the incoming dps in lvl 4's. So getting a feel for your BS in lvl 3's I think is really a good idea before just taking it into a lvl 4 untested. If nothing else take it into a lvl 3 and don't even fire a shot, just get a feel for the dps you can take. If it's anything even close to making a big dent in your defence your not ready for lvl 4's imho. You will learn things like cap usage of tank, hitting mob x, etc. On salvaging I use a Catalyst. I'm sure it's not the best but was cheap and quick skill for Destroyer I. It might very well be inadequate for the amount of loot in lvl 4's but I wouldn't know. For Level 4's I would drag a can around until I was done salvaging. Then BM the can and bring a hauler in and scoop the whole can. It takes a little more time but it gets the job done. | |
