Definately try to find a group of players to hang and learn with. Even if they obviously arent the group you want to play with for the rest of your eve career, you will make friends (ALWAYS good in this game... friends = survival) and more often than not they teach you the ropes. If you start to really know what you are doing and want more reward for your risk, check out a 0.0 corp that is recruiting newer players and go from there! This is of course my suggestion if I were to start again. The great thing about EVE is that you can do anything and it is what you make of it. You can go to 0.0 and stay there from day 1, but its no cakewalk. You can also sit and mine in empire with no worries whatsoever. You can become a pirate and hunt down other players all day while running from organized pirate-hunters. Just learn a few game mechanics before you choose a path. Oh, and watch local. ![]()

+2 Internets | As a random anecdote about exactly how unforgiving the world is, I popped up to Empire for the first time in a couple of weeks to do some shopping and buy my production character a spiffy new Mastodon deep space transport. We usually have some wardecs, so I checked alliance mail and saw just LV was wardecced. Undocked an alt, checked outside the station and saw one LV camping in a Maelstrom. No problem, eh? A couple stabs and I'll be out of here before he can break the tank on the Mastodon. Well, you'll notice I checked alliance mail, but not the corp tab. Turns out a dumbass director had deleted a mail from the local Rens griefer corp(Miner Protection Guild), and I undocked straight into a 4pt Merlin and a Tachy-Abaddon in addition to the LV dude I'd planned to tank. Needless to say, my Mastodon went pop, complete with a full set of local hull expanded cargos inside. Net loss? About 120M.

| Hahaha those CG cards are awesome. Gotta love the jabs at the MC. Honestly, goonswarm sounds like a fun place to be - the whole range of bee logos is great as well, check this link for them http://img65.imageshack.us/img65/119...reenrgbea8.jpg I kinda wish the goonies would hire us just to get a bee of our own =) |

| So I resubscribed to Eve two days ago and last night I did a few missions after finishing the tutorial. Managed to get my Kestrel blown up lol. Man I apparently suck ass at this game. So Sancus in the FOH channel gave me a little guidance(thanks much) and told me to basically kite missions with missiles and I found it a lot easier. Apparently there's more to the game than getting in range and pew pewing. |

+34 Internets | Well, I am at about 36 hours active, though I havent played all that much - just a couple sessions. I think I am getting the hang of ship movement (go-go orbit), though I still have to fight the urge to manually move off in a direction where there isn't any actual object/point to target and move towards. If there is a way to set a point in deadspace and move there, someone let me know lol. I did finally get into a rifter after running around in a Slasher for a bit, and the difference is night and day. Not that I wouldn't want something even beefier. But as far as questions on the Rifter go: - What should I get for a generic slot fit? Being Minmater for weapon types I suppose...I'm guessing railguns/ac's and some other junk? - Are low-slot items rare, or are they simply so far outside of my price range that I havent seen any yet? - I went and bought 2x '200mm autocannon 1' and they seemed to work fine; now I am having 150mm versions drop. Other than what I see listed as a range advantage, should I just stick with as large an AC as possible? Seems like the 200 has a much better damage mod and even a better ROF. - I went and bought 2 [Rocket Launcher 1] just to round out the 4 high slots I had when I got the Rifter. I know they really need to be upgraded as soon as possible; any suggestions? My missile skills atm are: - Defender Missile(2) Lvl1 - Missile Bombardment(2) Lvl2 - Missile Launcher Operation(1) Lvl2 - Rockets(1) Lvl3 - Standard Missiles(2) Lvl 2 - any suggestion for any slots appreciated, PARTICULARLY mids and lows at the moment. I havent found any lows and my mids are all junk (except for my [small shield booster 1] which has saved my ass many many times now) - right now I'm thinking of buying skills so that I can use armor/hull repairers. The last mission I ran in Pator had a ton of enemy frigates; until I broke each camp I would have to race in, kill one, warp to station to repair over and over again. Even when I hit easy groups and could take them down in one go (was like 5-6), I would have armor damage and would have to warp back for repairs again. But my question - good idea? I wasn't expecting to have to purchase several/many skillbooks to be able to use basic modules, I was thinking of levelling learning more. - When should I look into getting a larger ship than a Frigate, and how will I know when my Rifter needs to be replaced? (other than having to put my maxed out insurance to work lol) And do I have to go the Destroyer route before everything else or can I skip ship types? This char got rolled as Special Forces person, so whatever bearing that has on anything. I wasn't planning on large ships, but I have to say that I can def see the need for them when doing missions and the like. EDIT: I've been lurking in the FOH channel on Temer Muunokhoi, but I'm usually either to busy trying not to die and have the window minimized, or I am reluctant to ask a noob question every minute or two. And I'm really not too enthusiastic about these peeps in 1.0 in larger ships who purposely steal your loot, flag and then (I am suspecting) daring you to fire on them so they can attack. Thats all I can come up with to explain what these people have been doing, especially when I ignore them and they keep running in/bumping me. Maybe this happens all too often, people in BSs running around taking other peoples loot and daring them to get froggy?

The basic rifter pvp setting is like high: 3x Autocannon, 1 Nos ("Energy Vampire"), mid: warp scrambler, afterburner (later microwarpdrive), cap booster (75 booster), low: armor rep, damage control, 200er plate Works fine in pve, too.. however I do not suggest flying t1 frigs in pve ever. Learn destroyer 1, buy one, fit 7 artillery on it and enjoy it. Beam laser would be best, railguns still good.. and minmater artillery should still do the job. 2 weapon upgrades in the low slot to get some more damage, you are outranging not tanking. Staying at range is vital to avoid damage, if you get a decent tank going you can go into close range... but there is no reason to do it. Quote:

Destroyer will take care of any possible lv1 kill mission without being ever in trouble. You can do most lv2 kill missions, too, but its pretty much a waste of time. Battlecruiser will allow you to do most lv3 missions early on and with better skills all lv3 missions. Battleship finally to do lv4s. Getting a battleship isnt that hard and doesnt take long, but with the t2 stuff like assault frigs you can do most missions anyway, beside the really big kill stuff.

| Yeah, I picked up the spare character celebrindal had, and the FoH chan was answering all my noobed up questions without complaint, even when I occasionally asked the same question twice.
