For that matter, do not rush for battleships unless you plan to bluebie it up in empire. A t1 fitted battleship in fleet, flown by someone with _____ Battleships level 2, with poor cap and tanking skills, is just a 150M lossmail.

You will be much better off(and more useful) flying a tackler or an ewar cruiser or something. And you'll learn about more than "F1-F8 and hope the rest of your gang is doing their jobs." Your skill will actually play a large part in winning the fight.
This is true unless you can get into a 0.0 carebear alliance or corp - a BS will be needed to rat effectively. (It can be done with other ships but not as effective).

Are there any good places to rat for decent ISK with a BS without joining a corp?

With a Kestrel (with a shit setup, 3 basic missile launchers and a civilian afterburner and shield booster) I was able to farm .4 security asteroid fields for rats. About 50k bounty. As long as you kite them, you'll be fine.

Then again, it is .4 space so its kind of dangerous. Third night of doing it and I finally got ganked. Luckily the pirate was a bit nice and didn't pod me.

bounty on empire rats is pretty much shit for a person in a BS.. going into 0.0 without a corp is possible but extremely dangerous... theres a few areas that no major alliance claims but in general they are filled with people who will kill you. I would do missions and not try to do belt rats, belt rats are just to rare with to low bounty in empire to be worth it, and 0.0 is dangerous if you dont have a corp with poses and shit to base yourself out of.

Plus you can get implants/faction ships out of mission running to suplement your income.

Anyone interested in setting up some sort of collective FoH alt swarm come the Revelations launch? Everyone from established vets to newbies seems to be setting up miner/hauler/inventor/ratting pilots in the next couple days and it would be interesting to see if we could coordinate something like zerging a random mineral-rich patch of 0.0 or whatever. Might prove amusing.

I need entertainment while cross-training to Minmatar. Help me.

Depending on the time of day, I'd join in.

Yep, already gone. Do they announce on the websites if they are up early, or should I just keep trying randomly every hour? (Shuttup, I'm an addict now)

Aww man. Why can't they just automatically put the next level of skill in training? This is my second time missing multiple days worth of training

Honestly 0.0 is not as dangerous as people make it sound.

The only systems you will see anyone in (In my experience, this is south, around Stain and in and out of Agil) are the first system into 0.0, and any systems with stations. Other than that, most of 0.0 is just a big empty wasteland where you can rat all day and hardly see anyone. If someone warps into your system and stays for more than 30 seconds, just warp to a safe spot. Of course the problem is trying to find a base of operations, and warping in and out of Empire all the time IS dangerous and you will run into a gate camp and get killed sometimes. But if what you want to do is kill 500k-1 million bounty NPC battleships in "high sec" 0.0 (I don't know if it's been mentioned here before, but not all 0.0 systems are the same, there is a hidden security rating, the lower it goes, the better rats and rocks will spawn there), it's actually no more dangerous than low sec Empire, especially if you travel during off peak hours.

Of course, this is all my just in my experience, honestly, I'd say the pockets of low sec Empire (Say a .4 between two .6s) are more dangerous than most 0.0, as these types of places are almost always camped.

Is it at all possible to survive a gate camp in Eve or is it just basically instant death if they decide to attack?

From what I've read, winning a 2v1 is almost impossible no matter how much of a tech/fitting/SP advantage you have over your opponents, one just perma-jams you so you can't do anything while the other kills you.

Should also mention there's a #eve on the uberguilds irc network. No one ever says anything, but it's there, and maybe people might find it useful during this downtime.

Yes it is. I'm a newbie - like 2 weeks old character. I have a fairly decent Frigate and fitting for a character that young (Amarr Exec with warp disruptor, MWD, some shitty lasers and nanofiber for speedz). Yesterday I survived two gate camps I wouldn't have survived if I had a Cruiser or a bigger ship. Why? Because these sniping cunts can't easily lock on and shoot me. I'm too fast. By the time they can lock on me I already warped to a safespot, or just jumped through the gate.

Bastards chased me through 3 systems, everytime they managed to catch up with me, I jumped.

When you take your BS out to 0.0 it helps to have a throwaway alt in an npc corp to scout ahead 1 jump. This way if there is a big gate camp, you will only lose a shuttle. Cheaper than a covert ops, dummy alts can be used to make bookmarks for you.
