I don't know too much about COSMOS missions, but here is what I know:

- Each race has a constellation full of COSMOS agents in space and exploration areas and complexes.

- Many of the missions are one-time-only missions that you can do. They give as reward unique skillbooks, COSMOS modules, or blueprints with which to build COSMOS modules (which are generally like T2, but with lower fitting requirements.)

- They give a ton of faction standing for the faction they belong to.

Something I wonder about is whether the standings are designed to be zero sum, or whether you can get ahead of the game with the social skills? Is it possible to achieve like 5.0+ with all empire factions?

It's not quite zero-sum, but it's a ton of work trying to raise a bunch of factions.

It used to be very plausible, as Sisters of Eve were at one point positive to all of the empire factions, so storyline missions with them would increase standing with all four. They changed that about a year ago, though.

Well there's a new noob in the Universe. I tried EVE once back before the Revelations(?) revamp where they gave noobies 800k sp. It is a hell of a lot easier to get into the game now. I'm 5 days into the 14-day trial and I have a Destroyer, +1 skill aug for every stat, and about a million in the bank.

Game looks great even with the older graphics. Using them since on laptop and framerate > *. This Catalyst looks like an ugly cousin of the B-Wing from Star Wars but it makes level 1 missions ez mode.

Hey, don't worry about the framerate - if you can use the new graphics (i.e. card supports shader model 3) do it. There's barely any framerate difference, it's just way better models and textures mostly.

Go check the other EVE thread (BOB + LV etc) - Fog posted a link to it a few posts after his screenshot.

So I've been waiting to get into Eve University, but since it is so trivial to maintain a wardec in carebear space, Privateers has kept one for a couple months, which means EU isn't currently accepting applications. Very frustrating, and there's a good chance that I'm just going to cancel again.

So these new drone regions they added, they JUST have rogue drone rats in them? Do said rats drop modules or alloys? What, if any, ECM do rogue drones employ? Is there some unique appeal to the area, such as better moons or complexes?

I kinda don't get it. I see having rogue drone space, but I don't understand how they made the area competitive.

Yep, just the rogue drones, and they drop alloys and no modules at all. Dunno about ECM. I guess belt drones don't use it, as there would be too much bitching if they would.

Drones don't give bounties, but drop alloys wich in turn can be refined to minerals (Anything from Tritanium to Megacyte). This can be very lucrative provided you have the logistical backbone to handle it. You just can't hop into belt and start ratting mindlessly away while the ISK trickle into your wallet, you have to transport all these alloys, refine them and market them or use it for production. If you can manage those things Drones are more lucrative then normal rats, but most people shun the logistical hassle involved with them.

Therefore the Drone regions have got a rather carebearish image as you need quite a carebear organization to make good use of them, and are therefore shunned by the more PvP oriented alliances.

Also Drone regions are quite remote from empire, another problem for PvP alliances relying on empire shopping trips to resupply their gear.
