+3 Internets | Small-scale PvP tends to have a lot of cruisers in it, and I'd say the most well-rounded cruiser is probably the Rupture because it can vary from long-range to short range setups, and a heavy tank to a completely gank fit depending on personal preference. That said, that's almost impossible to answer because everyone does PvP differently. To expand, two groups of 10 people might be 10 interceptors, or two interdictors, a covops, a huginn, and 6 sensor-dampening Ravens. Or you might have two Eagles, a Sleipnir, two scorps, and 5 sniping battleships. All of those groups would excel at different tasks.

| looking for some advice. My account is from 2003 and I have played off and on since then but never really got into the game. I plan on doing that now. I have about 8.8 mil SP. Learning is 100% maxxed, and I have 1.7 mil in engineering. I currently fly a amarr executioner. I am currently training energy emission systems to level 5 because I thought it would reduce cap cost from lasers but someone told me this isn't the case? Anyways. Since I am a Caldari am I wasting my time flying a amarr ship? Am I losing that much or does it not really matter? Also what should I be training? I was thinking of maxxing electronics and engineering so I could fit more stuff and maybe buy an interceptor. I am really interested in doing fleet fighting and would like to start out as a tackler. I realize this post is kind of all over the place, part of the problem is that I am not too familiar with the game and I don't really know what to ask. Thanks, Jando Sinister |

+3 Internets | Yeah, Energy Emissions Systems lets you use energy vampire weapons(nos/neuts). On the upside, you'll be one of the few people who can use Heavy Nos IIs when people start inventing them in Revelations. The downside is that you probably can invest the SP in other areas. Controlled Bursts is what reduces the cap cost of lasers, but if you already fly Caldari ships I'd concentrate on those as they offer more variation in gameplay. Buy yourself 10 Kestrels or so and just go zooming around causing trouble. Even if you get blown up without ever killing anything, it's good practice at learning the fundamentals. As far as basic skills go, Engineering and Electronics V are very important, as is at minimum Weapons Upgrades IV. WUV/Advanced Weapons Upgrades IV become important once you start trying to fit T2 equipment, and AWU V is needed for a bunch of cool fittings.

| I have amarr frigates 5 / 5 my caldari is only 3 / 5 I think. Caldari ships are still better for me? I'll go buy some new ships today I guess. I liked the executioner because it was really fast. I plan on working up electronics after I finish engineering. Thanks for the tips Wodin! |

+3 Internets | Ack, no. I didn't realize you had Amarr Frigate V. I would work on support skills, and hopefully we can chat in-game a bit so I can get a clearer picture of what's going on. The other people in the FOH channel are quite helpful as well.

+4 Internets | I'm similar to others who have posted here. I've had characters in Eve pretty much since release. One is 10m SP, other is 13m. But a lot of that is industrial type stuff on one character, and for both there's lots of level 5's simply cause I've cancelled my accounts at least half a dozen times, and each time I do I make sure I select a level 5 right before my account expires (thanks CCP for not being assholes and halting training when the account expires!). BS, Elect, Eng, Learning, WU, AWU are all at or near level 5 for both characters, for example. I've never really gotten too into the game. I did the carebear type of stuff, missions, trading, a bit of building, and mostly mining. I think I might take your advice and just buy a bunch of kessies and go around getting used to PVP. When I was playing I always had the mentality of "don't PVP until you're in a BS", but that's kind of ass backwards. Problem is, if I go getting my ass blown up and podded, clones are gonna get expensive. I think I'll probably roll up a third character after the expansion and use him to get used to PVP. But the thing is, I'm really not all that interested in PVP. I want to get into 0.0 with a corp where I'd be doing group based stuff, whether PVP or mining or complexes, whatever. But I don't really have any interest in simply going around and ruining other people's day just for the sake of it. I needs to find me a good corp, but from what I've read here, I've got to have some PVP credentials to get in. Ah well, accounts are cheap! Come to think of it, how much do accounts sell for, anyway? Or more specifically, a 10m+ SP account? Last edited by Eomer : 11-27-2006 at 09:40 AM. |

| This board has its share of assholes and thankfully none of them seem to be in EVE. Every single person in the FOH channel are really helpful people and really cool in general. Pretty happy about joining that channel. |

| Yea the people in FOH channel all seem to be fairly knowledgeable. Anyone have a character though with 3-4m SP+ they want to sell or trade?

| You all newcomers DO NOT RUSH FOR T2 SHIPS! unless you plan to buy isk at ebay you will not be able to afford to learn pvp in t2 ships. If you dump your early skillpoints on the skills for t2 ships you won't have sp's to fit t2 modules, and fitting t2 modules on t1 ships is *way* more effective that the other way round. |

| A couple links that I didn't notice mentioned that I think are good. EVE Online - EVE Explorer has a nice query system for finding complexes, agents etc. You can enter your current location so you can find stuff thats close to you.The wiki has links to a lot of other information too. http://www.ombeve.co.uk/Eve_Regions.pdf (right click save as) is a very detailed collection of maps that can help you find places to hunt or mine in your current area. Tanking - FreedomFightersSyndicate Kinda old but it gives you an idea of NPCS and damage type to protect against while fighting them. |

For that matter, do not rush for battleships unless you plan to bluebie it up in empire. A t1 fitted battleship in fleet, flown by someone with _____ Battleships level 2, with poor cap and tanking skills, is just a 150M lossmail. You will be much better off(and more useful) flying a tackler or an ewar cruiser or something. And you'll learn about more than "F1-F8 and hope the rest of your gang is doing their jobs." Your skill will actually play a large part in winning the fight. | |
