| two things to consider, the main one if you are doing research/production. With the right skills you can set a research/manufacture job at a pos in system from the safety of the station (your corp must also have an office in that station, and you need corp roles to install the jobs). no hauling bpos and minerals back and forth, not to mention if the pos gets blown up your bpos are safely in station (instead of blowing up with the pos). For research you need the skill scientific networking, offhand i forget the manufacturing skill to do so. as for the safety of high-sec, it doesn't protect your one-man production corp from a wardeck if someone wants that moon for themselves. as for mining/refining, pos module refineries refine ore at the efficiency the module is rated at, and is unaffected by skills. base module is only a 35% refine, so you will likely want to do that in a station (preferably one which your corp has 8.0+ standing with for perfect refines without taxes). I'd go with the station system. |

+2 Internets | Alright gentlemen, I've decided to give EVE's free trial a whirl. I made myself a Caldari Achura male, and adhered to the recommendations of this guide: Recommended Base Stat Builds - GoonFleet Quote:
As someone who doesn't really know what he wants to do in the game, nor how to do it, is Caldari going to be a suitable match for me? I imagine I'll be heading towards PvP as that seems to be the heart of EVE but alot of people in this thread claim Caldari ships are terrible in PvP. Should I be steering towards another race's ships? Will that entail a world of hurt in training? Based on my starting stats and my skill breakdown below, would someone be so kind as to hold my hand and guide me? Any advice is welcome. The starting skills:

After playing for a little bit you will probably get a feel for which race(s) suit you best. No. Quote:
If you wanted to try another race's frigates right away, your gunnery skills would suit Gallente ships well too.

| It also depends on what kind of PVP you want to take part in. Caldari ships are actually very good at small gang PVP, especially with the new ECM buff. For fleet PVP you should train guns and get in a rokh when you can afford to lose one, otherwise cross train a frig tackler on your way towards interceptors / dictors. |
