I can't see it approach that of a hulk although it may give a coveter a run for its money. It only has four high slots (three turret points) and obviously no modulated strip miner capacity. Plus it costs about 10x more.

Assuming 'maxed' bonuses (Mining V, Astrogeo V, Mining Foreman V, Exhumers V). Hulk with three t2 strips + t2 crystals nets 94,728.1 m3 / hour. (360 * 1.75 * 1.25 * 1.25 * 1.15 * 1.15 * 1.10 * (1.05 ^ 2) * 3 * 20) Moros with three Miner II & seven (7) mining upgrades nets 26119.3 m3 / hour. (60 * 1.25 * 1.25 * 1.10 * (1.05 ^ 7) * 3 * 60) The retriever I'm flying now (Mining Foreman IV, Barge IV, tech1 strips) nets 40824 m3 / hour. A similarly maxed t2 drone will net 3750 m3 / hour not counting flight time. 5 drones is then 18750 m3 / hour for the Barges/Exhumers and 56250 m3 / hour for the Moros (Dreadnought IV -> 200% bonus). 113,478 m3 / hour for the Hulk 97,200 m3 / hour for the Covetor (same as Hulk sans Exhumer bonus + 1 mining upgrade) 82,369 m3 / hour for the Moros 59,574 m3 / hour for my 5mil ISK Retriever The major flaw here is the efficiency of mining drones. I've never used them personally so I can't theorize on how much they're hurt by travel time, et al. Last edited by trotsky : 05-06-2007 at 03:16 PM. | |

I am sure this is mentioned somewhere in the thread, but as the thread has 1800 posts I may have missed it along the way. Anyhow, when yous kill up and it gives you a 5% bonus to whatever does that bonus compound as you gain an additional skill points or is the bonus applied to the base stat? For example 100 + 5 + 5 = 110, or 100*1.05*1.05 = 110.25?

Skills are additional. so if it was 5% bonus per level, at level 5 its a 25% bonus. things like resists however are calculated a little weird, its a reduction in total damage not a flat additive so things that add to your resistance will never be the exact % it states unless you have 0% in that resist to begin with. Also don't forget things like modules and rigs with stacking penalties also apply.

The way skill bonuses work is that individual skills are additive to determine the total bonus from that particular skill, but then when different skill or module bonuses are applied to a stat, they are multiplied. So, a skill which gives 5% per level contributes a 5% bonus at level I, 10% at II, 15% at III, etc. If you had three separate skills at levels II, III, and IV all affecting the same stat, it would look like this: stat * 1.10 * 1.15 * 1.20 = stat * 1.518. Modules are treated as separate multipliers (some are, however, subject to the stacking penalty which will diminish the multipliers they contribute). So, two modules (11% and 13%) added in to the previous example will result in: stat * 1.10 * 1.15 * 1.20 * 1.11 * 1.13 = stat * 1.9040274. This is why cap recharge mods are so powerful, because each one has more and more 'base' value to multiply against and thus has a greater effect than the previous mod. Pretty much everything else is affected by the stacking penalty which keeps things from getting out of hand.

With all this talk about Gallente ships, would I be better off going that route since I haven't got anything invested in Minmatar (other than Frig III) yet? I've just been doing learning stuff and am now working towards electronics/engr/mech/WU/AWU skills to V while I change my mind 3948503 times about what I actually want to pilot. I'm just not sure about the whole drone thing... I don't mind pet classes but I've never played one where you had to worry about a shitload of them and if there's one thing in games I absolutely cannot stand it's micromanagement.
