I chose Amarr to fly, I thought their ships were the coolest looking. I've slowly been switching over to missiles/caldari, but I got sidetracked by WU and AWU and the fact that every missile skill (besides two I have at lvl 5) are in that 1-3 hour stage and I don't feel like babysitting. Apparently back before I got bored I managed to buy a Ferox, cept I can't afford the insurance on it, so that was a good call on my part. Eve owns me so bad.

Am I the only one pissed off that ONLY Amarr use laser turrents, while everyone else uses Hybrid turrets? You can't dodge the use of Hybrid turrets at all, because basically every ship in the game gets bonuses to them. My character started off with Small Laser IV and now it seems like this will be completely wasted.

<--- Projectile turrets =( I only fly Minmatar ships.

I wrote the starting skill set to use hybrid guns, because Caldari and Gallente ships are both great ships-types to fly. That is why I recommended having hybrid turrets at IV.

Well right now I fly 2-3 ship types depending on my mood.

Primarily I fly a Rupture or Stabber set up as an artillery platform (720mm Scouts) with one autocannon and missle launchers as fit. This serves me fine for all tier 3 missions as well as npc ratting up to 0.1 space (0.0 tends to be a bit too hairy for bombardment ships). Tier 4 missions are (usually)doable, but tend to cost more in repairs than they pay out.

I know that there are rupture and stabber variants that go all autocannon, but usually they require mwd usage and/or other skills I don't have at the moment, plus I still like the idea of big damn guns.

When I'm market running, or doing a lot of low sec space transit I run in a rifter set up for tons of speed with some armament protection. Usually I can outrun/warp most hostiles before they can get any real bead on me (thank god minmatar frigs are good).

In the future I'll either move to BS or HAC, depending on which side skills i need to work on.

Errr only gallente and caldari use hybrids. Minmatar use projectiles, Amarr use lasers, hell 85% of caldari ships are missile boats.

it's really closer to 50/50 with some hybrid turrets (Ferox, Harpy) and a couple pure ECM (Scorpion, Blackbird) Still have a lot of missile boats, Raven, Caracal, and Crow being some of the best depending on the missile sizes you are going for.

For starters, level four missions are designed for battleships; you can't fly battleships.

I've spent twenty minutes now trying to warp out of Jita. It's like some sort of 80's screwball MMO horror film. "Lag Wars: Revenge of the Carebear."

Mission runners in empire are more detrimental to my playtime than the worst 0.0 gatecamp, hand to god.

To further answer your question orcmauler, it seems like the mimatar bs most use for mission running is the Typhon. Here is a thread with recommended setups for missioning:

Except for the fact that the people in Jita are not all mission runners. Half of them are suicide gankers looking for valuable cargoes, 25% of them are random people just selling their loot, and the rest might be mission runners. People need to realize that there are no good agents in Jita, so why would mission runners be based there?

HAC's are a little unrealistic, unless you have some kind of backing, imo. Vagabonds are good but they are incredibly expensive and that can add up.

Like the other poster said, a Typhoon would be great for you because of it's versitility in pve and you throw some nanos in the lows a MWD and some heavy nos and you can take a lot of ships 1v1 by kiting them.

Are you paying for Armor/Hull repair costs at a station or losing ships?
Buying a Armor or Hull repair module is pretty cheap, and fitting it, undocking and turning it on is cheaper any day than paying for repairs at a station.

If its losing ships , I agree, some of those level 4's will assrape you if you are not prepared for them.

Typhon is a great ship.

I enjoy the Cyclone as far as Battlecruisers go.

Couple of things I've learned from a friend of mine recently:

Play in windowed mode. I've had multiple problems already with minimizing and alt+tabbing, he says windowed clears all of the crazy shit up.

Disable auto target back (In options, under generic at the bottom left). He says it's how griefers kill newbies, and I can see how it'd be abused.
