I'd say anti-piracy is probably one of the more difficult pvp goals in the game, simply because you are going after people fitted for pvp who have pvp experience who also probably want to avoid you.

Piracy, on the other hand, is pretty easy because you're targeting carebears who are frequently clueless and almost always not fitted so they can be any real threat. The only thing that keeps piracy from being total crazy-profit ezmode is that it's not hard for non-retarded carebears to avoid you.

A carrier with any sort of respectable fitting can tank like 10 BS unless its being nos'd. Stopping the carrier from doing anything is very possible with damps/jamming, but actually killing it is another matter entirely. Figure a deadspace tanked archon can rep about 1000/s, and has close to 90 percent resist to all, so you need some crazy dps to break there tanks.

How do pirates keep their security rating enough to run around in high sec? or do they just ruin their security rating and avoid high sec?

The latter. Hauler alts are how they get gear, usually.

uh they don't, most can't enter high sec. It's not that its hard to BS rat in 0.0 though to fix your rating if you want to, but they're just going to ruin it again anyway.

EVE China is one big alliance that controls everything, mostly cause they started it with PoSs in game but no one could fly cap ships to shoot them down so it turned pretty retarded. I think theres like 3000 online at peak times there, its kinda failing i guess which is to bad.

Anyone know where any guides are on how to build a capital ship?

i.e., Dread, Carrier, etc?

I don't know of a guide, but if you want some information (that you might already know) then here is some for you. If it wasn't so late, I'd go into this in greater detail.

It requires an insanely large investment to get into capital ship construction. The skills for constructing carriers and dreadnoughts aren't too bad, but you need a ton of BPOs to build them.

Look up a Dreadnought blueprint on the market and show info, and look under "Bill of Materials." It lists different components, all of which have their own blueprints that you need to buy. These components are constructed out of the traditional minerals -- trit, pyerite, zydrine, etc etc. So you buy the blueprints for these, build them, haul them to the station / POS where you are constructing the carrier/dread, and build the ship. Hauling them can be a pain in the ass since many of these components are quite large.

All of these blueprints should have some research as well, and putting in a carrier/dread blueprint for ME / PE takes a very long time (several weeks per point). That means in order to compete with the true capital ship construction pilots / organizations, you need a lot of capital to sink into the BPOs of the components and the actual ship BPOs (the ship BPOs are about 2bil each for carrier/dread I think, and much more for motherships) as well as at least a month or two of zero profit while you research the BPOs.

Actually building the ship takes a bit more than a week I think - up to 10 days or so.

The only real way you can get into capital ship construction without this huge investment is by buying BPC packs. There are some organizations (check eve online sell forum) that offer complete packs of BPCs that include enough runs of all of the components you need to create a carrier/dread, and a BPC for the actual ship itself. These packs typically run about 200m-250m or so though, so it isn't cheap.

Hopefully this is useful information - I am by no means an expert on capital ship construction, and you might even know all of this stuff already.

I too got the trial, I'll be harassing you vets for days!!! Mwahahaha...

edit: Any clues to help a noob upgrade his ship faster? It seems to me that if I want to have any success with even level 1 missions I'll need to upgrade to missiles quick, but it's gonna take a day to get standard missiles trained. Game seems like a lot of hurry up and wait so far.

get out of the newb rocket asap, ask the FOH channel for a tip on which frigate is a good choice to get, then make that one suitable.
