Planning on starting a post-Kali character for the 800k starting points. No way I could reach that level in anything less than a month, so I'll just farm ISK till then. Only thing I'm really losing is a bit of Agent rep.

I would just wait it out. ISK farming with a newbie pilot is unimaginably boring and not at all productive.

Spend an extra hour at your job and sell a 15$ GTC for 160mil if you really want the head start. You'll end up having more fun than shooting frigate-class rats all day.

$15? I just checked their site, the smallest game time card is $30. Also, is there a large third-party market where you can trade ISK for a game card? Seems to me if you're going to do this, why not just buy from IGE instead? It's equally shady and you'll probably get more ISK for your money.

Also, 800k skillpoints doesn't seem like a huge increase for an expansion character. My character started out with about 320k skillpoints, so it's basically double the skillpoints a "noob" char has now.

EDIT: Also, even if you get loads of free money, aren't you going to have to slum your way through tons of level 1 missions anyway to get the faction required so level 2 agents will actually talk to you?

It's not shady. GTC->ISK trades are sanctioned by CCP and can be done on their official forums. Ditto with pilot sales. Dedicated miner/hauler players with 2-3 accounts can subsidize their monthly subscription fees by converting their more efficient ISK generation into free playtime. GMs even restore the code or lost money if you're scammed.

Not to sound like a shill, but I bought a GTC once from http://www.shatteredcrystal.com/code.php/eve_online when I was just starting out because I made some bad SP choices and my ship class wasn't keeping up with my abilities. Worked fine.

GTC sales for ISK are sanctioned by CCP, so as the above posted said, there's nothing "shady" about it. I've sold 3 so far from some extra cash I had sitting in my paypal account. But honestly, I'd play for a while before doing so, as learning the importance of isk management is a valuable lesson in this game.

Not true, you actually get more isk for your money by selling time cards. checked on that a few weeks ago.

its a great way to combat farmers.. and put a price cap on the amount they can make...

Be aware tho read the sell order forums on how to do it to protect yourself from scammers, and do not whatever you do buy a battleship and try to fly around with like 1 million sp, because it will get blown up and you will be very sad.

The money should make the learning curve easier and help with the low lvl grind towards getting learning skills... but it will not turn you into an instant BS pilot, you should still follow the general learning curve of frigate to cruiser to battlecruiser to battleship.

Odd thing about eve

I have a near 7million skill point character I play now and again, and I can't find anything to do but run npc missions/rats.

Furthermore, I guess i screwed my character up as I can't do tier 4's to save my life.

I'm considering buying some money so I can get five +3 implants (that you can use with cybernetics I) to train skills faster, will this be a significant improvement?

If you have no implants at all atm or have a seriously gimped stat, yes. Do not use them if you are in 0.0 pvp cause you prolly just lose them... jump clones are your friend when it comes to protecting implants. I do believe the formula for skills is posted on a sticky in the main skills forum on the main eve site if you wanna find out how much an extra +1 or 2 really helps.

And orc, T4s with 7 mil SP prolly kinda depends, if you are really focused on just one area it should be doable, but if you arent it might be hard. Alot of lvl4 missions is knowing how to tank and what shit to use more than SP imo.. a well fit BS with named stuff should be fine even if you have minimal lvl 5 skills and tech 2 stuff. If you are looking for PVP, theres prolly plenty of people in the south looking for new recruits with decent SP, i would scope out the corps down there.

http://eveinfo.com/

That site has alot of info on agents and missions and what resists you need to tank, might help.

It makes a noticeable difference, but you probably only need 4 of them - charisma isn't all that useful for most people.

Exactly how hard is it to join these big alliances? Is it on the level of WoW raids (ie, basically have to work your way up the smaller raids for a year or so) or does Eve require a steady recruitment?

Considering this is a game of controlling systems, it would seem like you'd always need new people to mine/produce/defend your ever expanding empire.

I'm the same way, we must have started around the same time. I'm at 7.05 mill SP and haven't flown a ship besides to get one new skill yesterday for about 3 months. I might have to buy some ISK because the main reason I don't play is I can't afford to do anything, and every time I decide to do missions (level 2 is all I can do reliably, certain lvl 3's kick my ass and have cost me more than I've earned since I've lost 2 ships) I realize that I *could* be making so much more money if I was in a better ship...the ships I can't afford.

But this brings up a good question:do skills train after you cancel an account? I'm assuming no and hoping yes.

Yes, they carry on after your account is cancelled. When I quit for a few months, I left a level 5 going and it was finished when I started up again a few weeks ago.

As a couple of people have mentioned above, level 3s with a BC and checking www.eveinfo.com for mission damage types and hardeners can help get some pennies in. I went from having 20-30m at the most to 200m+ within a couple of weeks from lucky drops and decent rewards. I was flying a passive tanked missile ferox however so perhaps that was Caldari EZmode missioning. I'd reguarly get local hull expanders from one of the multipart missions that sell for decent 8 figures.
