Inconsiderable,

Thank you, this sounds great! I don't mind the multiple instances of the same zone (like CoH, etc.), I just don't like overly instanced setups like Guildwars and DDO, since they take away any hope for random groups and random encounters, and make you feel like you playing alone most of the time. Hopefully they fixed the netcode problems in the meantime, and this will turn out to be a sleeper hit .
About you not being able to connect, it makes me think of many experiences in the past where you have the wrong client patch and the server won't tell you that's the case. I gather you probably tried already a fresh install with their latest version?

Draegan, the fact that the game is not gear centric was a design choice. So many times it's been said in WoW and other games that skill matters little since gear makes a huge difference in your rolls. By taking away stats associated to armor and weapons and autoattack/autotarget, you go a very long way towards fixing that. You still have the incentive to advance your skills (think Guildwars, CoH) and to discover content. Seems like a cool design decision to me, though I have yet to test it.

I am actually quite excited about this title again. The next thing that I am hoping for, is a strong scripting language, like the one in WoW or LOTRO to make an example (think some of the Draenei quests, like the vision quest and the last one, or the the Great Barrows in LOTRO), so that you can have quests that are like movies, with actual surprises and events. For me one of the biggest Vanguard turnoffs was to discover how lacking their ability to script anything was. Another interesting and crucial point will be the mobs combat AI, especially given the lack of autoattack/autoaim for players, if done well, with good stealth, LOS, etc., it could be really great.

I hate scripted events. Scripted events should stay in single player games. If there are scripted encounters in an MMO, it means that every person is going to experience the exact same things the exact same way. And every time you do an event, it will be the exact same as the last time. People who have never done it, will know what to expect because they have heard everyone else talking about it.

It is the same with built in quest systems. I am so fucking sick of games with quests. If a game has a quest log of any kind it is going to be exactly the same as literally every other recent mmo.

Fuck quests and scripted shit. There should just be STUFF to do in the world. Just put stuff in the world that players can interact with. Put a fucking ogre deep in a cave with lots of traps on the way to him... thats a real quest. By word of mouth players would tell each other about this complicated scary ass dungeon with a really scary monster at the end. No quest log, no sense that it is a chore, it is just a challenge.

And yea maps would be made of the traps or the monsters or whatever, but its still better than a step by step scripted piece of garbage.

your saying that because uber boss 0001 isnt scripted he will be harder? people wont know before hand what he does? have you played a mmorpg before? did i miss something? since when did scripting become bad?

and no quest? *insert random korean grind game* is the game your looking for.

Sounds alot like EQ. No signs over peoples head telling them that a quest was there to be offered or where to go. Everything got around by word of mouth. Who the hell cares if a boss encounter is scripted or not though. Hell I love it cause it adds personality to the encounter. Would you rather just have that giant ogre there just attack you on site, or would you rather have him taunt you from on high from balconies as you travel through the his gauntlet of death. I personally love scripted events just cause that add soooo much to the atmosphere of the game.

I didn't say it would be harder, I said I hated scripted events, and that I would like it more so piss off.

And if you think that putting in kill 10, fetch 10, deliver 10 type quests isn't a grind then thats your opinion. In my opinion it is the same thing as straight killing stuff, except that with quests I have to go back and find some NPC when I'm done. And having a quest log makes me feel like I'm somehow waisting time if I'm not working on one of the stupid chores.

So if you all like quest log games and scripted stuff, then it's you people who are preventing games that I LIKE FROM GETTING MADE SO I HATE YOU ALL.

You mean gear? I like collecting stuff and working to make my toon stronger. Doesn't have to be gear but other enhancements. How do players differentiate themselves other than class and twitch ability?

I thought this was actually pretty neat. Never seen sound like that in an MMO or anything come to think of it.

The mmorpg.com site is plagued with some type of virus or trojan. Everytime I go to that site my spyware software goes crazy. Notice your CPU usage for your browser when you go to their site. That site is bad news.

I remember they had to shut down the site due to a trojan at one point.

Say what you want, but the more I read about this title, the more I like what I see. I only hope it's not vaporware and that they can fix their rumored networking problems (FunCom anyone?). I just found this nice, old video about the combat AI http://www.tcos.com/downloads/xfer/t...i_grouping.wmv, and info about their scripted boss encounters, so it looks like two of my concerns have been addressed (or at least they say they have been addressed, which is a good start). Now they just have to hurry up and let me try the beta... One bit of bad news though, looks like it will first launch in Europe, no contract with North America yet
