Lots of new Vanguard info released, plus videos & screenshots

I know some one in beta, and they run a $1,100 machine. He just bought this system and from the comp he use to play on, Vanguard plays like "money" is what he says. Any way thanks for the updates, and what I would really like to know is what each class does. Not their archtype and general job, but like the example above about the blood mage, thats one way they mitigate damage for their party/tank. I would like to know what the classes do to do damage, or what utility they get instead of being #1 dps etc.

Look. There is plenty to like about Vanguard, but the things you choose to express in many of these threads are grim reminders of why many players became so jaded against you. The retention rate of WoW, the snide comments, etc..etc.. Yes. "You" Not Sigil, not Kendrick, not Akkirus, nor Poe or the rest of the industry giants who left you long ago after having seemingly choked once too often on the Kool-Aid. *You* No one honestly believes you're going to recreate EQ1 all over again, so quit trying to be the sneaky carnivale operator telling us all you have the biggest rollercoaster anyone has ever seen. And of course you will not show it to us unless you're willing to buy a ticket. Any ETA on dropping the NDA? Right. Regional Trade (150 – 199 skill) * not a guaranteed feature for launch
This feature is the “moneymaker” for diplomats. The idea is simply that diplomacy allows for players to purchase items in region A and traffic them to region B for a large profit. Trade routes will not be defined in the quests; this is something that the players will have to figure out for themselves.

Rits (200 – 299/349 skill) * not a guaranteed feature for launch
Travel! Diplomats should travel and Rits is the means to do it. Rits quests will allow for diplomats to see the world while reaping the benefits of mid-high level diplomacy quests.

Embassy (300/350 – 500 skill) * not a guaranteed feature for launch
I’ll be entirely honest and state that I really don’t remember much about the function of embassies, but they sound really important!

And some know, that's not just the tip of the iceburg. But look ladies and gents, do NOT read the fine print. Just listen to the man in the colorful hat while he spins his umbrella. His face never changes, but his definitions might. For example, your dissertation on what constitutes a MMO and what doesn't (hint: Both EQ2 and WoW have used this to great success) that was just an opinion and that's fine, no matter how asinine it was or *who* it was really aimed at. But now these are now statements you're making, it's much easier to make claims and wait for people to buy the box by not allowing *ANY* unfiltered information come out of Beta. And the man in the colorful hat says: Buy my game to find out the truth!


Stick to what's good about Vanguard (classes, mechanics) and keep the e-peen stuff and the spin entirely out of this. *Especially* when it's not true. It will bite you in the ass down the road. With nothing else on the horizon but two good quality expansions in TBC and EoF people are flat out tired of the BS from fledgling MMO's promising a nice juicy pear but giving you a rotten apple, and you're ripe to take the blame.

The whole campaign about Vanguard reminds me of the Wizard of Oz. There is this mysterious mighty wizard promising people all sorts of rewards, but in reality it's just an old man behind a curtain, a humbug.

Ok, the story had a happy ending for Dorothy and her friends, but with Vanguard it's not so clear. For now, just ignore the man behind the curtain and keep your hopes up. Maybe some of you will get a heart, some of you will get courage and hopefully some of you will get their desired brain in the end.

Also Cam, a gig of ram is pretty weak nowadays too, for anything. I tried playing Oblivion, a single player game, on a 5200 with 1.5g ram and it was unplayable. I can't even imagine how that would run Vanguard.

Edit: You can get a gig of ram for 70-80 bucks. You'd boost your gaming power by alot just by doing that.

Hopefully I won't get slammed with the hammer of NDA justice on this, but be careful with a 7800 depending on your monitor. I have a 7800GT with decent specs otherwise (athlon 64, 2gb ram), and the performance is not good at 1650X1080 unless I turn settings down quite a bit. Runs decent at 1280X1024, but if you have a larger widescreen monitor you may want to step up to something like a 7900GTO.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: the 5xxx series of cards from Nvidia were shit from top to bottom, and have serious issues running PS2.0 applications from poor or faulty design. Gabe Newell from Valve went so far as to give them a public dressing down over it, complaining that they had to create an alternate PS1.4 code path in HL2 for it to run half-assed decent on 5xxx cards. Sorry man, but your card just flat out sucks dick.

Put your money where your mouth is.

Lets just end the performance discussion with a benchmark. Put together a 3 minute timed loop for Vangard. 33% solo, 33% group, 33% raid. Make a video of it, with commentary of exactly what the fuck is going on and why Vangard is (NOTE: IS, not WILL BE) awesome.

Then I want the average FPS for 3 systems. Entry, Mid, High. Actually, even better, leave the FRAPS counter running the upper right to add legitamacy.

To seal the deal, gives us the 3dmark03 or 3dmark06 scores for each of those 3 systems. This will let me see where how (and other people's) systems

You can choose whether to use awesome settings or low end settings, doesn't matter because I'll see how good VG looks in the demo. So you gotta choose, high numbers with down to earth graphcis or choppy good looking stills with shitty fps.

Balls in your court, till then you can stfu about 'playable.
