So since WoW had a lot of people, it was completely original? Not getting your point.

Increased regen... are you kidding me? WOW, it's so groundbreaking. Just because they will increase it means it's becoming more wow-like? That's like saying wow is a copy of eq since they're both mmorpgs. Even your obsessive hate replies are lacking reason to hate the game.

My point is...you know the mindset certain people have about EQ founding the MMOg genre (despite UO/M59/The Realm/etc)? Expect a whole lot more people to think the same thing about WoW.

I don't know why I'm even bothering to try and reason with a frothing fanatic such as yourself, but yes - when EQ completely changes their downtime regen so that you can get full mana/hp after a minute or so out of combat after six years of 'lol lern 2 wait'...that's a pretty sure sign of being influenced by WoW.

Please also note that I'm not claiming it's a bad thing.

I think people are associating "newbie casual friendly" with "WoW-ification" which makes sense but it's not a Bliz invention. Seems to me the objective is to yes, make it obvious how to play the basic game, make it playable in 1 hour spurts and soloable. They want to appeal to a broad range of people, and it would make sense that they always had that ideal in mind.

However you also have aspects of the game that appeal to MMO veterans. Flying mounts, boats, raids, grouping content, more involved quests etc etc.

Yes this is a very good point and I dont think there's any debating it. A lot of people I know at work are absolutely clueless as to what EQ is/was, but they have level 60 Paladins and Rogues on some WoW server somewhere. It's kinda fun talking to them because they know I dont play WoW so they try to explain to me what a "tank" is like I wouldnt know

I've got a few people at work like that, it's amazing how giddy and excited they get when talking about WOW.

"And then we killed this boss with this speciall AE attack that only went out in front of him, so we had to turn him to kill him with everyone standing behind him and then........"

It's like that's nice, I can't believe I was like that 7 years ago about MMOs.

It's also a reason why many ex-EQ people can't get excited about WoW - it's all so similar as to have become cliche...

Finally the chatter is lining up perfectly with the game itself
